Shuttle from hotel

Bridget, on August 8, 2019 at 10:30 PM Posted in Planning 0 15
So we’re closing in on our budget. I really want to get a bus or something from hotel and venue and back for our guests. My Fh who has had lots to say about budget thinks a bus is tacky. That I want everything high end but then I want a bus. I think it’s fine and better than a limo shuttle or something. I’m not sure why he’s so against it when he keeps trying to go lower price on everything. I told him fine he’s responsible and he needs to get on it as our wedding is fast approaching. I’m banging my head!!

I was just looking into transportation for our wedding to and from hotel and venue and there are some nice shuttle buses out there! There are some that look better than the limos in my opinion. It can get costly but I think there is more room so it can comfortably seat your guests and take more people at a time. Show him some pictures, he might be thinking of a run down stinky bus where people have to stand holding onto bars haha 😂Good luck 🚎

Eh I dont think theres anything wrong with a bus. I also dont think the quality of the bus is going to be something that people will remember at the end of the day. You also do have time to decide. Our wedding is this sunday and we just decided on a bus like a week or 2 ago lol my fiance suddenly decided he wanted one after I thought we decided against it for money reasons.

Oh and also some people told me to let guests Uber or pick a DD and not worry about it. But I’d rather know that everyone would be traveling safely and don’t have to worry about what happens after because I know me and I will.

I don't think anything is wrong with it either. It's not meant to entertain the guests anyway it's just a short courtesy ride.

Is it possible FH is nervous the guests will be in school busses? Most busses are pretty nice, especially hotel shuttles. Maybe show him what you're looking at and see if he'll be more on board then!

I’ve been to a few weddings that were very fancy/high end weddings and then they used a school bus for guest transportation. I didn’t think anything of it and no one minded. As a guest I would rather have transportation that didn’t “match” the formality of the wedding than none at all. If a bus is what is in your budget, go for it!

When you say bus do you envision a school bus or a tour bus? A tour bus would not be tacky at all however they are quite expensive and run on a schedule so your guests would not be free to leave when they wanted. Where is your wedding located? Honestly, most guests won't mind taking an Uber back to their hotel as long as Uber serves that area. We had friends use shuttle buses for their wedding because it was held in the middle of no where and Uber was not an option. We have used many Uber's for weddings before and never thought twice about it. Honestly, if it's not a necessity, I wouldn't bother with spending the money on it.

There's nothing wrong with a bus. Most weddings I've been to, the bride and groom haven't provided transportation to the hotel and back, so having that already provides a "classy" element haha

Transportation can be PRICEY, at least in NJ! I think my heart stopped for a minute when I learned how much it'd be for shuttle services. Our hotel provides us with one if we book 20rooms...

The way I see it is ppl will be so excited for your wedding on the way there & probably have had a few on the way back that noone is going to care if it's a bus or not.

I think a shuttle service is a nice gesture to your guest but only if there’s a lot of them staying in the same hotel. Is also a safe choice if you have an open bar. I say get some quotes and present this to him. He might think is more expensive then it actually is. I would no consider limo as those for sure are more expensive.

I think a shuttle is a great idea to ensure guests safety if you are having an open bar. We get one with our hotel block. I would look around for a decent priced shuttle and come back to him with all the info. Maybe that will change his mind. Good luck.

I think the concept of the shuttle is more important than the vessel itself, honestly. Providing transportation is a luxury no matter what the vehicle.

Also for what its worth anything can happen at the end of the day. I hired a nice fancy new Mercedes van to shuttle our guests but at the last minute they had a change and sent a regular old white van instead. No one minded, as they were all still happy just to be getting a ride!

I don't think a bus is tacky at all. How is providing free transportation for your guests tacky? We hired two 55 person charter buses (they were very nice and had AC & leather seats, etc.) and both were almost 100% full. It was super nice to avoid drunk driving or guests having to pay for transportation. We paid $1,100 per shuttle. The shuttles were the only option for us, no other ones we could find held 50+ people.

We have a shuttle bus running trips to and from venue and cabins. I don't think theres anything tacky about it honestly. If it was a big yellow school bus maybe, yeah lol but a shuttle bus not at all. Very common actually. My sister had a 40k wedding and had shuttle buses..

We had the very same discussion! I think at the end of the night if people are drunk and there’s a free ride for them back to their hotel that’s all that matters. As a guest I’d be very grateful for that!
