Shuttle Bus

Michelle, on May 14, 2019 at 3:17 PM Posted in Planning 0 12

I plan to shuttle friends/family from the hotel to the party. Our event is a party atmosphere - very non traditional. We will have dueling pianos at our wedding and there are no traditional first dances, cake cutting etc.

We want the atmosphere to be party party from start to finish.....

With that being said I have two shuttle options. Standard 24 seat shuttle bus or the 34 seat party bus with the limo style seating, huge video screens, and lights. IF we went the party bus route do you think we should offer one of the three trips from the hotel to the venue as a NON party light/video trip ? I can imagine a few (not many) wouldn't love the party vibe. But I don't want to leave them out of the service.

Or do we stick with the shuttle bus that has no frills.

It depends on your budget, but I don't personally think having a "party" bus would be worth the extra expense over a regular shuttle.

    Locally it's $100 / hour vs $200 / hour. So not a terrible difference.

How far is your hotel from the venue? I was going back and forth on the same thing but our hotel is only 5 miles away so it seemed silly to pay for all the extra frills when no one will be on the bus long enough to enjoy it.

Clearly this is is subjective, but double the prove is a pretty big difference in my eyes. I don't know if the extra party bus is necessary unless you like the idea of the extra 10 seats. Unless your venue is that far away from the hotel, a 10 minute ride in a party vs non party shuttle shouldn't make that big of an impact.

I love to party, but wouldn’t really want full party bus vibe *leaving* the party. Lights and TVs are a little overstimulating to me at the end of a party. So, I’d only go for the party bus if you need the extra seating, and I’d keep things on the mellow-er side from the ride (doesn’t have to be boring, just a subdued happy medium, haha). I’m all for the party, heck, at the end of our wedding, we were all drinking beers in the shuttle 🤣. But, it was regular van/bus with regular radio playing and no bright lights, haha ...and we still managed to have tons of fun Smiley winking

I agree that double the price is not insignificant , especially since my shuttle experience, the companies near me required rental for a minimum of 4 hours ! So when $100 more isnt such a big deal, it could suddenly become $400 more— just a warning to be cautious of the fine print! (.....in actuality one company we dealt with required rental in 4 hour blocks but the blocks couldn’t be broken up, so to provide transportation both to and from the party required 8 hrs of rental 😳)

^^ every company is different though! Not trying to scare ya! Just saying be cautious of the details. I’ve seen other companies simply charge by trip, which is way easier on the wallet!

Hi Michelle! How many guests would you be shuttling? If the 24 seat bus cuts down on multiple trips that would be a big incentive!!

We would be shuttling up to 75. I think we found a non party busy option that will work out well for us. I agree with everyone on here - it would be a lot of fun to have the party limo/bus but it's a short distance and I will use the budget elsewhere . Thanks everyone

I have not. I think we are just going with the standard shuttle bus. Just having a hard time finding one in our area that is not a party bus with a stripper pole in it. LOL.
