Shutterfly vs Minted

Michelle, on February 21, 2014 at 7:36 PM Posted in Planning 0 15

Thinking of getting my save the dates from these companies. Has anyone tried using these sites? If so, how satisfied were you with the quality?

I bought my invites from minted and I loved them! Customer service was great, as was the shipping time!

I didn't do my save the dates through them but I use shutterfly for all sorts of things (including my guest book) and they've always been great.

I think minted has better quality products, but shutterfly is still pretty good as well.

I got my save the dates from shutterfly. They had a deal going on for free shipping and i had a coupon to save $20 off. I got 100 save the dates for $36. Best deal I found at the time I was looking. Minted seemed expensive compared to shutterfly when I was browsing.

However I am hand making my own invites. These things cost so much and we are on a budget of $3,000. When it is all said and done I will have spent $2,890.

I did save the dates, invites, and rsvps through minted. Will also do my wedding announcement through them. They have an awesome quality, service was good…. though i had some struggles getting my custom invites. Had to go through 6 proofs to get what I wanted, which was a tad annoying.

I receive d a$50 off coupon as well, when I placed my STD order, which was nice to use on the invites. They have a refer program as well, so if you want to send me your email address, you get $25 off on your first order, when I refer you and you place an order.

I actually went to Ribbet.com and made my own Save the date, because I did not like any of the templates anywhere. after that I saved the photo I created and uploaded it to Walmart.com there I printed them as a 5X7 full photo, photo card it was only $0.68 (the price would go down if I had ordered even more but I'm having a smaller wedding so I only ordered about 77) each INCLUDING an envelope which was a nice quality that was "fancy". I ordered just one to make sure it was perfect, then I ordered all of them. But this is all just my suggestion. To answer your question I would go with shutterfly you can find many many coupons along with their great work =]

I absolutely love Minted. Even the way they delivered their samples was cute and well put together (even my FH was impressed) I emailed them asking if their magnets were normal postage or not because I didn't want to buy them and then find out I needed double the postage and they emailed me right away telling me the weight and how one stamp would be fine. They always have discount codes and if you order samples they will send you a discount code. My STD's were adorable and everyone loves them Smiley smile

I did my STD's at Shutterfly too. I didn't know about the postcard option, so I got mine printed as a photo. There was printing on the back, but tonight I went and got some real pretty pearlized ivory cards, used double-sided mounting squares, to attach the STD's to the card's, and then put little square magnets on the back. My cards came with envelopes, so PERFECT!! I got 50 STD's for $4.... just shipping. When you join, you get an e-mail for free shipping on 50. So maybe use a few different e-mails to join and place different orders. Shipping is $3.99, plus tax.

Ok so it looks like I can go with either company and be pleased with the result. I am leaning towards Minted for the simple fact that I found a template that I love. It's too bad because Shutterfly is cheaper Smiley sad

Received our order for the save the date and they were horrible. The photo was washed out and they looked cheap. I'm embarrassed to send them. So far customer service leaves much to be desired in resolving our complaint. At this point it appears our satisfaction will not be guaranteed. Minted was recommended by our photographer but I have friends who have used shutter fly and were happy with shutterfly. Should have gone with a known tried and true.

The representative wanted me to e-mail a picture of their product and they will determine if they are washed out. I have the actual card - not sure how they'll be able to tell - I have the real thing and an e-mail picture isn't going to provide an accurate view.

Will tell the photographer not to recommend minted anymore (she asked us to let her know the outcome and customer service) and so far not so good for us. Definitely will not use minted again.

They are both good, but Minted may have paper that is higher in quality. Vistaprint does have great sales and both have wonderful selections. If you are on a budget, I recommend Ann's Wedding Bargains - my friend ordered rustic invites from there and she saved a lot of money and the quality was pretty good. I think Minted and Zazzle are the best, but the others are also good. I am sure you can contact them and ask for their sample kits and then determine. I'm getting my invites from Zazzle.com which run about $2.59 each
