Was it a taboo to bare the entire back in the early 2000s? look at these two dresses left one from 2004 and right one from this year. notice how the left dress covers more of the back whereas the right dress leaves the back almost completely bare

    It doesn’t look like it’s the same exact dress. But like any fashion, styles change over the years. Nothing to do with “taboo“

    I think it’s a combination of things, but I do think trends have something to do with it! Dresses with corset backs used to be super popular, and they typically require a slightly higher back. I do feel that a lot of dresses have lower backs or sheer backs right now. I know I’ve seen some dresses that are stunning in the front but would not be flattering on me because of this!

    It's just a style trend. Has nothing to do with less coverage being more acceptable now.
