Shower gifts

Lauren, on June 11, 2019 at 10:51 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 1 9
My mom and Moh sent out the bridal shower invites 2 weeks ago and a few people have sent us gifts. I've read on here to open them immediately to make sure it's not broken and to send a thank you note asap. My question is do I then bring these gifts to "open" at the shower?

No just leave them at home. Just need to bring gifts for the host.

No, you don’t need to bring them.

I've seen some people on here say to bring it, but I wouldn't. I imagine they shipped it to you to make it easier. It's a little silly to rewrap the gift, lug it to the shower, and open it in front of everyone.

Then again, I also still don't see the point in opening all the gifts as everyone watches (does anyone actually find this enjoyable?).

I agree with all of this.
I mean, I'm still having a bridal shower, but at the same time "thanks for this thing I put on a list that I wanted. I'm so glad you bought it for me so i can unwrap it in front of everybody."

Yeah, my bridal party is throwing me a shower. I'm excited for the party and getting to spend more time with people I care about. That part is just so confusing to me. Like, yep, this is the exact set of glasses I wanted! How did you know?!

Also, my family are immigrants, and bridal showers just aren't a thing in our ethnic culture, so a lot of my family was also confused by this lol. I'm pretty sure everyone in the room just feels awkward at that point of the party.

Thanks! I'm planning on a bottle of wine or champagne and card (maybe gift card).

Thanks, I figure that's why they sent it but I didn't want to offend anyone who sent a gift and then I didn't open it.

I personally like opening gifts at the shower. I get that it can be boring if it takes too long. We are incorporating a game (bingo) with the gifts so if I open a gift that is a blender then anyone who had blender on their card marks it, like regular bingo. That way people are engaged and may win a prize.

I'm pretty traditional, so is my family, so I enjoy opening gifts. Like I said we are also including a game with it for people who might not enjoy it so much.
