Show me your trains!

Laura, on August 26, 2019 at 5:12 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 15
Just picked up my dress (still hasn’t been altered). This is my train right now plus my Cathedral.
Already married ladies or ladies with big trains, can you show me your trains bustled? I’m worried about how it’ll look because I haven’t really been a fan of the look but I know there are multiple ways to bustle.

My dress had a 12-point French bustle.

This is my train, but, I don't go until next week to get the bustle.

I took my dress in for alterations Friday, so ignore the pins. This is how my bustle will look once it’s finished though. I think the most important thing is finding a height/position you feel good with. My fiancé is a “booty guy” so I purposefully asked to keep the bustle a little lower, while some people prefer it higher to add volume/etc. Just make sure to really express the look you’re wanting so they can make it a reality.

I had a huge heavy train and opted not to bustle it and instead just draped it over my arm and it worked well. My alterations person said it would be a lot more money to bustle it without guaranteeing it wouldn’t break because of how heavy the train is. I also used the dress loop that was already sewn into the dress at time. I did have a few stumbles dancing but ended up getting fun pics out of it so it all worked out.

That’s so interesting! I don’t know if mine has a wrist loop. I also don’t think my train is that heavy (it’s mostly tulle). But again, I’ll have to see what my seamstress says when I go for my fitting in October. I’m just kind of nervous because I haven’t particularly liked the bustles on any of the dresses (not in a rude way- I just don’t think the bustles ladies have shown me would look good on me/my dress). I know there’s still tons of other ways. I’m also googling to see examples of bustles on a line dresses.

I was the same way about the look of bustles so when my seamstress told me about spending money and it potentially breaking I just opted to figure it out and it worked well. Hubby helped me and my girls at times to lift it when we were walking, otherwise I just draped it nicely over my arm - the pic with my mom was haphazard cause that was a moment just after we both tripped so it lifted higher than I had it before. But again it was no big deal to me.
