Show Me Your Tablescapes!

MrsD, on February 4, 2019 at 3:07 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 14

The time is coming for us to decide on linens and china! Help me! Our colors are earth tones (blue & green), white, natural wood, with gold accents! I'm leaning towards gold chargers, but don't know if we should do white tablecloths or blue? A mix of both? Maybe a tan or ivory? I've posted some inspiration pics below. I'm thinking our centerpieces will be a mixture of the simple bouquets, candles, and greenery (3-4 different centerpieces, we have 220 guests) like the pictures shown below. Should I do gold or silver flatware? Should the flatware match the rest of the gold? Gold & white china, or just white? Help!

Help me & show me lots of beautiful table pictures!

I love the clean look of white table cloths. Leave the color for your napkins or the flowers. We did white table cloths, white linen napkins, gold cutlery and gold votive candle holders. The other candles were all white. We had a heavy greenery theme so I wanted a really clean look and didn't use any color at all. I wanted elegant and ethereal, not too distracting. I'm not a huge charger fan, they cost too much and take up a large amount of unnecessary space without a real purpose!

Our tables looked exactly like your second picture, except with gold cutlery.

Me too! I think I'm leaning towards white, I just don't want things to look boring. I just bought gold votives from another bride in our area, so we will use those for sure! Did you just use plain white china & glassware with the gold flatware? I'm a HUGE charger fan, we use them for every holiday at our house & every nice dinner in my family, so we will for sure use those. The Dollar Store sells pretty gold ones for $1 each, so I'm leaning that way! I just don't want to do that until the linens & china are decided, so they all match.

    Did you use napkin rings?

I think I like the 2nd pic the best. It is similar to how I did the tables. We rented ivory silk linens and napkins, gold china (instead of a charger we rented the largest dish in the setting which was 12'' and used that as a 'charger' and used the 10'' inch plate as the dinner plate), silver flatware (the venue provided this - we originally wanted to rent gold flatware but it was ridiculously expensive and with the lights dimmed no one really noticed the flatware), and used green/floral garlands with candles of varying heights. We added a sprig of red berries at each place setting and used the same accent plaid and motif from our invitation suite for the menus, table numbers and place cards.

So cute! I'm super glad you have a picture with gold china & silver flatware, we had the same dilemma with price difference of china vs. silver flatware (more me than my fiance, he does not care either way haha). Where did you find the sprig of red berries? Were they real or fake? I love that idea, and think it would be cute to incorporate but something more summer themed for ours. Also, for your deer on the table, did you spray paint them or did you find them in gold? I love your tables, they look so romantic!

This was not something I cared a whole lot about to be honest, so we kept it pretty simple with all the standard stuff— silver silverware, white china.
I ’m a color girl so I couldn’t stand to have white table cloths, but still wanted to keep it neutral, so went for a light gray that was pretty, light , and complimented all my blues.

our meal was buffet style but it was important to me to have the place settings laid out both for appearance and so no one had to carry silverware with their plates of food or run back if they forgot , but I didn’t care about chargers personally (I would’ve used them in a world where they were free, probably, but alas, they were not, so we pushed for simplicity). I let the caterers/coordinator really take the lead on set up, but they used draped napkins and silverware to deliniate each setting, and placed individual menu cards into each napkin. (We did a plated salad to start, so in the pics that’s there and the menu cards are kind of hidden)

for your questions, I will admit that I am a sucker for gold silverware!! If you do gold chargers, I might go for a white or ivory table cloth so that the chargers become a focal point (and with that I’d probably skip a runner— I think runners are okay on a fairly simple table but to me they run a risk of making things too busy)

So beautiful! I love the background of your reception space too. We are also doing a plated salad and buffet. I'm a huge charger fan. My only dilemma is do I do gold chargers, then gold flatware & gold accented plates? Is that insane and will look like a vegas wedding? Do I do gold chargers and white china & linens and regular flatware? Just gold chargers & gold flatware, then regular everything else? So confusing!

Thank you! I asked my florist to provide the sprig of red berries and she did for very little cost to us (I think approx. $25 for 42 place settings) They were real. For the reindeer, I found a shop on Etsy that sold these but she didn't have any reindeer so I asked her if she could find some for me. It took her about a month before she got back to me with 2 different kinds for me to choose from. She then painted them gold for me.

So cool! We would love to do this with a mix of elk, deer & bears for our place cards but the only ones I'm finding are at kid's stores so we would have to paint them ourselves (which isn't the end of the world).

This was ours. We had a mix of long wooden tables and round tables with tablecloths.

Oh wow, I love the black & gold. It's super unique! I also love the wood tables. Our venue comes with regular tables, and to rent 19 wood tables would be another $1,900 so I think we are opting just for linens unfortunately. I love your centerpieces too!

Here is the store on Etsy where I got my reindeer. She is very accommodating and if she doesn't have the animal you're looking for (like my reindeer) just ask her if she can find it. She paints them whatever color you need.
