Show me your rings please? Going band shopping

Jenny, on June 9, 2017 at 9:27 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 85

This weekend we hope to pick out our bands. I have no idea what I'd like though, so hoping to get some inspo from people's sets. Here's my engagement ring. Also, this sounds wierd but I'm almost not interested in a wedding band - do people ever just get married with their e-rings?

Lovely Smiley smile I wasn't sure if I wanted to get a matching diamond band or a plain one!

I wanted a fairly simple band, as I feel like I have enough going on with my engagement ring. I opted for a thin, diamond cut white gold band. It's pretty, it's sparkly, and it "fits" my personality, but it's still fairly simple. It does sit flush with the diamond when I have them on together - this picture makes it look like there's a huge gap - there isn't.

I only have a terrible picture, but I picked my band up last week! Both my engagement ring and band are from a local jeweler/custom.

I think it's fine to just get married with your engagement ring if you'd like; many also mention wearing the engagement ring on the right hand and getting a band for the left. I knew I wanted something I could wear alone if need be, so I found a lovely estate ring that complimented my engagement ring.

@MGB "many also mention wearing the engagement ring on the right hand and getting a band for the left"

I really like that idea. I am not someone who likes a lot of jewelry, so I was originally thinking of wearing one or the other (and I love my e-ring more than any band I think I could ever find), so then it was like, "well why bother?"

I'm using my grandmother wedding band and my diamond is from her wedding ring. She passed them down to me! This is something I'll always cherish

Due to the shape and setting of my emerald cut e-ring, I had a hard time finding a band I liked that fit well next to it. I had a custom wedding band done so that it would essentially snap in perfectly without a gap between the rings and match the look of the e-ring. It's a bit unconventional, but I like the uniqueness. One day I will probably get a matching topper version for the other side of my e-ring. The only downside to a wedding band like this is that it cannot be worn on its own.

I did contemplate getting a totally separate wedding band for the other hand, and think it is a great option if you can't find a band you like that matches your e-ring!

I wanted something really unique and intricate so I went with this floral designed guard. My e-ring will be soldered together with it and set up higher in the band so it will pop more.

    Mine our both from Kay's.

you don't have to rings at all to get married, so if you only want the e ring and no band, go for it!

OP my ring is similar to yours and I don't know what to get either! The obvious option to me is to get a matching pave diamond band, but I already have a set of 3 pave bands so I feel like I'm just buying the same ring again, haha. Hoping to go shopping this week.

I wanted a 5 stone wedding band to symbolize the 5 of us (blended family) coming together. I can't wait to wear it all the time!

Out of curiosity, I know it's not traditional (closer to your heart) but does anyone wear their wedding band on the outside? I'm curious because my band has a v shape to it and is more comfortable/looks better on the outside. FH doesn't care provided I wear both, but I know doing so is not the norm ...
