Show me your dollar store centerpieces!

Stefani, on March 10, 2015 at 5:26 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 23

I am trying to save money and make some centerpieces for my wedding using the $1 vases the dollar store has. I would like some tips and inspiration from fellow dollar store ladies! thank you!

Holders from the dollar store, candles were just around the house, agates and shells from the beach. ETA ditching the bow around the bottom

I don't have pictures with me but I am using these as smaller vases next to one large cylinder vase in the middle. They will have roses in them. Smiley smile

Picture 1: Table Number Frames and vases are from Dollar Tree. Also the clothesline and clothespins for the garlands in the background were from the Dollar Tree.

Picture 2: This was our altar table with vases from the Dollar Tree (since the vases are mostly blocked in Pic. 1.

Picture 3: This isn't a centerpiece, but another easy Dollar Tree item placed on our dessert table. I used a paint marker to add the phrase and leaf motif.

It looks crooked in the pic, but I swear it's really not! Also it was in the bathroom because I wanted to see if it was enough color for an ivory background.

@tucker... It was super easy and our guests just ate up the little details like that.

Wow, very creative ladies! I did simple centerpieces and table number frames from the $$ store too. Plain 9" vases that I spray painted a silver ribbon around.

Future Mrs. Dean -- can I give you a hint? It looks like you bent that long stem on the hydrangea. Cut the stem instead (because your vase is clear, it will look much better). Also, when you cut the stem, make the hydrangea shorter than you have it in the pic. You want your guests to see the flower, not the underneath of it, and at that height, that's what they're going to be looking at. If you're worried about the leaves not showing if you make the stems any shorter, there's an easy fix for that. Pull them off and hot glue them under the base of the hydrangea.

You can put a submersible LED in the bottom in one of your wedding colours, fill them up with water, put some orchids or other nice flowers in there (or dollar store butterflies/shells/whatever) until it fills the length of the vase. Then top it all off with a floating candle on top. I dont have any pictures of those but you should end up with an ethereal display.

Another thing I'm crafting is this. It explains itself by looking at it.

Wow ladies I have to say I am very impressed with your creativity!! I love the $tree. I think you all did an amazing job, these centerpieces don't look like they are from the $store.

Tania, that tissue paper idea is something I might actually steal from you, lol. There seems to be an increase in venues that will not allow open flames, but there is no decrease in brides who still want small glass containers with candles surrounding their centerpieces. By incorporating the tissue paper, the guests will assume that there's a real candle flickering. Plus, there are lots of colors and designs of tissue paper, so it would be easy to coordinate alternating patterns and colors. Thanks for the idea.

Not actually from the dollar store but I would definitely label it "bargain" Smiley smile

H and I cut a dead birch tree from his parents' property and cut the cookies from it. I bought leaf garlands from Joann's at 70% off I bought the glass chimneys at various Goodwills and St. Vinny's stores (strangely they ranged from $.99-$3.99 for the same exact thing). The candles were the only thing I bought at full price but I bought in bulk to save money since I needed 75 of them. They were about $1 each.

I made the table numbers out of card stock and used a slide cutter and my home printer to complete them.

Total cost for 60 tables plus a few others - roughly $300

I would also suggest looking at goodwill, salvation army, and Habitat Restore for glass items if you have time. They are sometimes only 50cents.

Not completely dollar store. My vases are from there, the flowers from Michaels. Total for 12-14 centerpieces is about $110.

Doing cupcakes as our centerpiece. Dollar Tree glass candlestick holders spray-painted. Hot gun glued to vinyl record. Table # printed and laminated in middle. Voila!
