Show Me Your DIY Card Box!

My DIY card box. I bought plain boxes and painted them the colors I wanted. I got ribbon from michaels and hot glued them to the box. I think the box cost me no more then 35 dollars total. I found the stick on letters at Michaels as well.

So I didn’t make the box, but I had a small old black case (was actually a sewing machine case, but resembles a small luggage/travel case). I mod-podged the interior with scrapbook paper.

I hot glued some fake flowers and greenery onto a bird cage. All found at Hobby Lobby!

My wife built ours and I stained and painted it. We figured if we were going to have one, we would make something that we could keep forever to keep notes, cards, etc. in.

We're still working on painting ours but, we plan on decorating a mailbox just like the picture (but with our names on it).

My sister also volunteered to keep an eye out on it since there is no way to lock the mailbox while still allowing people to put cards in.

Bonus! Once we move into a house we get a cool mailbox!

We got a cheap card box on sale from Oriental Trading and decorated it so it wouldn’t look so plain.

My fiance built ours! but let me tell you it was not an easy task, we got the wood at home depot and had them cut it for us but we got the measurements wrong so he had to fix it at home and it was a pain in the butt. Then I made the decal witt my cricut and that was a whole other task lol. We love it though! And it will make a nice decoration in our future home ☺️

That's a really good idea! Having the box open just makes me nervous.

View Quoted Comment Just FYI if you get it, it is really really flimsy but for $3 it was worth it for our budget. We plan on weighing down the inside so it doesn’t blow away if it gets windy.
