Show me your bustle!

Joy, on July 25, 2015 at 2:15 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 19

When to my second to last dress fitting today (I will make another post with pics). The seamstress offered me 2 bustles, French, which I didn't care for, and American one point bustle, which I liked, but I am afraid it may not last the reception (so I read online). What kind of bustle did you have? How did it hold up. If I had known we were doing bustles today, I would has been more prepared.

I think mine was just an over bustle. I had found loops in the back and one snap. The bustle held up great, even with all the dancing none of the hooks ever broke.

Pic #1 shows kind of how long my train was

Pic #2 dress bustled while dancing with mom

@Nikki. I like yours! Do you know exactly how many bustles you had? My seamstress charges per bustle.

I don't have any pics but mine is a three point that meets directly below my corset back. They tend to break when you don't have that many points and your dress is heavy, so only doing one point on a big dress (imo) isn't the place to save money.

Ugh!!!! I asked her for 3 point bustle and she said it wouldn't look good. I will probably need to go back with pics of bustles I like. I have attached a pic, she didn't do a good job of showing the bustle however.

If you don't mind sharing, what did you ladies pay for your bustle? I'm in NJ, and the woman who is doing my alterations wanted $220 for the bustle! I was shocked.

I told her at the first fitting that I'd have to think about it. My second fitting is in 10 days and I'm going to have to make a decision. It's a long train, but still...

I just didn't expect to pay that much, but maybe that's the going rate?

Here was mine. I also liked the look of the single point American bustle. My seamstress actually created the look with two points very close together. I danced the night away and a few people even accidentally stepped on my dress but I didn't have any issues with it breaking. My bustle plus hemming cost just under $200.

5 point English bustle. Very elegant. I love the 8 point bustle someone posted as well. I didn't care for either the American or French for my dress.

Thanks Ladies! Should I go back to the shop and see if there are any other options for bustles that will fit my dress? Or should I just wait until the bustle is done and see how I feel about it then?
