Show me your Bustle

Magen, on March 2, 2018 at 6:59 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 23
Am I the only one that absolutely hates the way my bustle looks. I have a trumpet fit dress and the lady doing alterations said there is only one way you have to do the bustle. I just wanted a simple hook up to keep it off the ground. Now I feel like I have an accordion on the back of my dress... show me your bustle!

Do you have a pic of yours bustled? Mine has a crazy looking train but it makes for a cool bustle

My dress isn’t trumpet but I agree with you that most bustles don’t look good. I’m doing a reinforced wrist loop.

My train is a beautiful 3 ft full of lace. My bustle looks like garbage. I will be doing something about it

I ordered my dress last weekend and asked about a bustle. The bottom on my dress is kinda straight, so before I even have it done I’m going to ask how it’s going to look overall. I’ve also thought of getting a very affordable reception dress as well to avoid that.

What does your dress look like? I agree that trumpet dresses can be hit or miss with bustles. Or any dress can be hit or miss with a bustle really.

I am worried about this too which is why I can’t decide whether or not to have a train. My dress is a ballgown and the back is completely plain satin with organza overlay. No lace, no pickups, etc. I’m afraid a bustle would look weirdly poofy and wouldn’t last the night anyways. 😔 Trying to wait and see what alterations say.

I have a trumpet dress and this was my bustle (just pinned) at my first alterations appointment. I originally just wanted a one point over bustle, but ended up liking the french bustle better.Show me your Bustle 2

My alterations person was originally going to only give me a one point bustle, but I didn't like the look of it. I asked her if we could spread the bustle across the back instead so she gave me a three point bustle.

I am having a hard time deciding between a wrist strap and a bustle. So many bustles look funny. I really like how some of your ladies seamstresses fit them into your dresses though!

I'm nervous about this too. Haven't had my 1st alterations appointment yet, so not sure what they'll say but I've seen my dress bustled on other brides (google search) and I do not love it. It has a beautiful lace train and it just doesn't look great. I think a 3 point might be the best but not loving it.

I’m not too thrilled with mine. It’s kind of boring. It’s a mermaid silhouette. Not idea what else she could have done.

I'm not sure what it's called or if it will work with a trumpet dress, but isn't there one style where it's pinned up and fastened on the underside of the dress?

I don't have a pic of mine, but I'm not thrilled with it either. Mine is fit and flare, and she wants to do an American bustle. She says it's the only way to go because the overlay is a different color than the underlay and it looks weird any other way.

I don't have a picture but I told my alteration lady that I hated bustles, they remind me of a fox tail. She is going to bustle it to the side of the dress so that it lightly falls to the side and I love it. I have a small all lace train though so I don't know if that helps

I let my seamstress decide what worked best for my dress....she ended up doing a 15 point bustle. Im not 100% positive as this was the first fitting, but I believe some of it will button under, and the lace will button up so I keep the lace edging...
