If you do it like one of these, you can still see the beautiful lace design and buttons.

I'm sorry I don't have pictures yet but my dress has a similar train and just the other day my seamstress pinned it into a bustle that worked really well. It had 3 points, and basically picked the whole back up the bottom of the bodice so it looked like the back of my gown just became a little fuller. It essentially disappeared which is what I wanted.

From a quick Google search, it's kind of like this. But less voluminous, I think this girl's train was longer. It just kind of fills in ballgown shape.

I have a ball gown and long train with buttons too. Except mine is plain silk fabric and has no lace or details so my bustle may not work for you. I didn’t want a huge bustle/lots of fabric hanging off my butt. So we r doing what she calls a ball gown bustle. Everything folds under and ties up under the gown. Not a French bustle but all the way under. So the only issue is it will have a dirt mark that will need to be clean out of the middle of the train where the new bottom hits the floor. But by that time we will be inside so I hope it doesn’t get too dirty

I did a 5 point ballroom bustle. It was secure and didn't mess with the look of the dress. Anything less on a ballgown doesn't look right in my opinion.

My gown which has a considerable train was bustled underneath in 2 layers with 14 loops and buttons per layer.

I so wish I could see a photo of yours after it’s bustled!! Sounds like something I’d prefer!! I don’t want mine all big and puffy in the back!!

Oooh!! I do love that one!!! Stinks because you’re right, I’m not sure that’ll work with my lace hem! I want something to limit the bulk in the back!

I definitely recommend going with whatever is most comfortable and least troublesome! Your photographer might want your train up or down for pictures and you'll want to be able to easily adjust accordingly... I say this as a photographer myself.

My dress is similar to yours, in the way that it has buttons all down the back and lace!

    This is the back normally

And this is the bustle! She made it so all the buttons and lace will be featured still!
