Show me your added “illusion mesh” on your gowns!

Sunny, on April 27, 2019 at 2:04 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 9
Hi! Im having my first alterations apt. soon and will be adding a panel of illusion mesh to the front deep V of my gown. I want the added security of it staying exactly where I want it to keep the girls in and have a little more coverage. I’m wondering if there are options of how to go about this- number of layers, color of the mesh (skin tone?) different approaches to how high the mesh comes up, etc. I know it’s all a matter of personal preference and what works best with the dress, I’d love to see examples of your illusion mesh front- bonus if you added it in alterations. Photo of my unaltered gown attached. Thanks in advance!

Wow your dress is absolutely stunning, you look like a goddess!
I tried on a dress with a deep slit like that and the mesh came to right about mid cleavage area on me. I think you could probably go a little lower if you wanted!

Fashion tape may be better at keeping your dress exactly where you want it to be than mesh. Mesh or tulle are very delicate and not very supportive.

That’s a good thought too. I do want the extra coverage that the sheer mesh would give. Still the same look but a little less “in your face” cleavage.

Oh nice! That's how I feel too- my parents love the dress but are reallllyyyy concerned about me "Not looking like J.Lo" (Green Versace moment) lol. I'm sure it will work out just fine.

    I agree!

I would do both if your seamstress can make it work!

The top of my dress was plunged with illusion 'mesh' and beading. Of course it ripped when trying it on. My seamstress fixed it, and it ripped a little during the reception.

Not sure if you can see in the photos, or if it helps (since our dresses are so different), but including just in case:
