Should your shoes...

chasity, on August 8, 2015 at 3:06 PM Posted in Planning 0 4

So I have kind of a silly question. Little back story...I ordered my dress after falling in love with the one I tried on in DB. When my dress came in and I tried it on it wasn't the same length as the one I tried on. I had 1 1/2 inch heel on when I tried on the dress and you could not see the shoe at all, not even when I walked. When I tried the dress on after it came in, with the same exact shoe, you can now see the shoe when I walk. I am freaking out because I don't really want my shoes to show period. The question is...is it normal for your shoes to show when you walk? does anyone else's show? is it going to look hideous with my shoes showing when I'm walking down the aisle?

I haven't gone through this yet with my dress, so I can't speak from experience, but I feel like every time I've gotten my BM dresses altered the seamstress is asking the bride this question, and says that your shoes will poke out a little bit with your forward step. I don't think the dress should be so far off the ground that you SEE the shoe, but if it's too low you'll drag it and possibly trip. I mean, I think as long as you're not wearing Crocs down the aisle, it'll be okay! Smiley smile I'm sure your seamstress can help you out with some length too if you need.

Mine don't show at all. I think it depends on the dress but it does sound to me like you may have gotten a different length than the original dress you tried on.

Have you talked to the bridal salon you ordered your dress from? I think this is a question for them. My dress came in 3 lengths. Depending on the shoe I wear you can barely see them when I walk. If I wear flats you can't.

Here is the link to pics of my dress.

@Sarah DB is a joke! I could barely get any assistance that day left alone the opportunity to ask them questions. the seamstress literally walked out and booked the alterations appointment and then left after rudely telling me that I should have already had an alterations appointment booked. The first dress I tried on you could not see my shoes at all, not even when I was walking. I even put on a pair of flats when the dress came in and you can still see them when I walk. I'm not a fan of flats due to the fact that I have yet to find a pair that is comfortable on me. I decided to take my dress to a different lady for the alterations and bustle but she just had surgery so my appointment is not til the 20th of this month
