Should processional music have vocals or only instrumental music?

Private User, on January 12, 2016 at 9:12 PM Posted in Planning 0 14

I would like opinions on whether or not the processional music is best as instrumental only or are vocals ok. For budget reasons, we are planning on recorded music, so I am thinking vocal versions of songs may not seem appropriate.

I think it depends on the song. I've been to a wedding where the bride walked down the aisle to the normal vocal version "Thousand Years" by Christina Perri. It was absolutely beautiful and emotional.

Mine had a soloist, guitarist, and keyboardist. Most weddings I've attended do not have vocals for the processional; my sister is a soloist and has only sung during the bride's processional a few times. She sang, for her own wedding, when the grandmothers and groom's parents processed, though.

We did both. Mom/FIL, DH/MIL, and my ladies all walked in to "For the Dancing and the Dreaming" cover by the Hound and the Fox. My dad and I walked in to Canon in D.

We are doing movie soundtrack music.

Lord of the rings theme for the processional, the patriot for my father and I, and he's a Pirate from pirates of the Caribbean for the recessional.

I like both. Mine will have lyrics.

I think this is all up to you personal preference, and also depends on the song. I will personally be having the lyrics. As much as I love the instrumental version of the song as well, I think that the lyrics make it mean that much more.

The bridal party will walk to music with vocals, my dad and I will walk to a string quartet cover of "Home." It's entirely up to you.

I did only instrumental and my only vocal was during lighting of unity candle. But that was my preference, I wanted all classical music so I had Clair de Lune, Flower Duet, Canon in D, Hallelujah (vocal) and Spring by Vivaldi as our exit.

We are doing only instrumentals for our pre-ceremony and ceremony music. But, vocals definitely can work.

Honestly this comes down to personal preference.

We did instrumentals for the prelude and processional; the recessional and all reception music had vocals.

We're doing vocals for both - Marry Me by Train for the bridesmaids and Tenerife Sea by Ed Sheeran for my entrance. The first line of Tenerife Sea is 'You look so beautiful in your dress' so I feel like it would be lacking with just instrumentals.

We are doing lyrics because that's why we chose the songs. Granted they are pretty on their own, we wanted the words Smiley smile

Most of the time I hear just instrumental. I think it's up to you, honestly.
