Should my Invitations match my Save the Dates?

Danielle, on December 20, 2019 at 5:11 PM Posted in Planning 0 9

Just wanted to get some ideas or feedback from everyone! I designed my own Save the Dates and Thank You Cards and they coordinate in color and font. I'm now on to designing my invitations and I'm wondering if they should match what I've already done, or if they can be totally different. I know it's my wedding and I can do what I want, yada yada, lol...but I'm wondering what's customary or what other people do Smiley smile Thanks in advance!

I didn't do the same pattern and don't but did the same colors and concept so it felt cohesive.

My save the dates were very plain. It was a black and white photo of us with white font. We put the font in a shadow box so you could see it. We did something plain because it would match anything we picked for our invitations.

Mine did not. If you’re super organized and on top of things and know what invitations you’re using, may as well make matching save the dates. Even something coordinating that doesn’t completely match would be nice. Anything you do will be fine. I’ve seen it done both ways.

I used my wedding colors for both but my invitations and save the dates were very simple/elegant looking so it worked for us. It's not a must and honestly I've never paid attention to those I've received.

I guess ours matched in theme? In terms of that both were baseball themed.

However, we didn't get them from the same vendor, didn't try to match the colors, and generally didn't think about it.

    Most people won't even notice.

They don't have to match, unless you want them to! Smiley smile

    I guess,
they should match each other, especially if you have a particular wedding
theme. I like to follow a conception. For my wedding, I designed every detail
in the white-and-marsala style. As for me, it was cool. The guests told that
they noticed the consonance. The dearests people even expressed an intention to
preserve our invitation as their own “Save the dates” or reminder about our
    future anniversaries.

I had this same question! I liked my save-the-date design, but I found another design that is super nice and a bit more elevated. Same color scheme..My obsessiveness is telling me I HAVE to match the invitations to the save-the-date, but I'm hearing and seeing that it might not be that important! The colors being similar might l make it cohesive enough.
