Should i send announcements?

Shana, on June 18, 2019 at 10:47 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 4
So DH and I got married back in October. We did a quaker marriage license which we literally just had a paper signed by friends and took it in. This was due to certain circumstances at the time. We are having a vow ceremony for just our immediate family next Friday. I am still wearing a wedding dress and having a photographer take photos. Since we did nothing for our actual marriage, I was not sure if you would send out announcements now or not. Maybe vow renewal announcements? We are not having a real wedding. Just standing in front of our family and saying vows to each other with a sit down dinner and cake. DH has never been married and this is my second marriage so I wanted him to have a little bit of the experience. I just don't know if it would be weird sending out an announcement to friends and family almost a year after? Smiley smile

    Hey there!
How about an announcement in the paper where you live?
We do a lot of that here in the South.

It would seem odd to send out announcements a year after you were already married. Announcements are to let people know you are married. A year later, it would be more like announcing, "We just had a party to which you were not invited."

If you're going to send them, I'd suggest doing so now. You can later send invitations to anyone invited to the vow ceremony.

Well our vow ceremony is next Friday so we did not send out invitations as it was just to our immediate family.

Thank you! I never really thought about doing that! That would be a good idea. We currently live in Philadelphia so we would have to post it where we are from.
