Will I miss out on some great experience if we just register online? Does Macy’s in person like offer us champagne or anything?

I’m not sure about Macy’s. Crate & Barrel gave us snacks and refreshments as well as free wine glasses during their registry event. But mostly I preferred registering in store so I could see and feel everything in person.

The only advantage daughter found in registering in person at Macy's was that she got to see everything and that helped her make choices (e.g., stainless flatware comes in different "weights," so she got to hold the spoons/forks and make a more informed choice about what she wanted). The lady was nice, and I know she received some coupons and discounts, but I don't know if she would have also received those if she did it all online. Absolutely no champagne or other celebratory perks! (It was fun though! Smiley winking )

No Macy's doesn't provide anything like that. We registered in person because I wanted to be able to see the items in person before we requested them.

I didn’t register with Macy’s, so I’m not sure of the perks, but I would prefer to register for things like towels and linens in person so I can feel them.

I registered in person at Macy’s & BBB but no special perks. I wanted to see & feel items—that helped.

I am registering at Target, but I did not register for anything in regards to sheets or towels there. I am picky and prefer to buy those items at Kohl's but they no longer offer the registry service so my mom ended up buying us those items for Christmas instead. The only thing I did register for as far as bedding went at Target was a new comforter. But I agree with PP it's nice to be able to touch and feel the items as far as linens go.

Crate & Barrel had a nice registry event to start our registry. What I liked was we were in the store before they opened to the public and they had some people on hand doing demonstrations or answering questions on some of the pricier items (cooking knives, cookware, wine tools, etc). So that was really helpful in choosing which brand of kitchen knife we wanted to invest in. Download the app before you go so you can scan items and quickly add to your registry. They do these events one weekend per month. Like others mentioned, they serve refreshments (pastries, coffee, mimosa) and you also get a goodie bag... I think we received a pair of stemless wine glasses, knife polishing cloth and wedding related coupons (like x% off at black tux).
