Should i really start looking now?

Future Mrs.Randolph, on July 20, 2020 at 6:33 PM Posted in Planning 0 13

Hi,

long time looker 1st-time poster. So I'm not officially engaged yet but I know it's coming before the year is over with. I'm planning for early 2022 with the hopes that the "Rona" is not running rampant too bad around that time. My question is would it be a good time to seriously look at venues to book even though I'm sitting on a 2022 wedding.

I mean there’s a lot of venues now that have the options to tour online so you can always do that first

I would absolutely start looking. 2020 has had a ton of brides reschedule early to 2021 which has probably pushed the 2021 brides back to scheduling to 2022 to get the venues they really wanted

Yeah it wouldn't hurt to start looking now. I ditto what Erin said, especially if you're thinking about the early part of 2022. Some 2021 brides have even rescheduled to 2022, like myself.

I personally wouldn't start planning until I was actually engaged. However, if you two are discussing budget and looking at venues, that means you are engaged.

Yes if you want a shorter engagement. I wish I'd started planning earlier

It’s good to start looking early, however, I would only put a deposit when you both have agreed on a venue.

The only reason I would say hold off is to see what businesses are left... a lot of the vendor I was working with have gone out of business unfortunately but Massachusetts has some very very strict rules here.
I think you can definitely start looking at dresses ! Thinking about a bridal party and getting ideas I just wouldn’t book anything until January to see where we are with vaccine. That’s my personal opinion ! But without Rona I say plan the earlier the better !!

I don’t see the harm in looking. However in terms of booking I would be sure it’s something you and your significant other are on the same page with. Smiley smile

There's no harm in looking, as long as it won't upset your partner. Not being "officially engaged" means different things to different people, so it's hard to give specific advice here. Personally, we've had a long engagement (engaged Nov. 2018, wedding June 2021) and I've loved it. I see no reason to rush and I tell a lot of people not to rush it, but we're young and we both agree on that. I'd discuss it with your partner first, but if you're both on the same page, go for it!

Oh yes he is most definitely on board we've been together for 8 years and we've talked about it a lot recently. Thanks for everyone's help I know not to book now until it's "ring" official but i just want to at least get an idea of what is out there considering all the postponements and changes due to COVID.

I would start looking and comparing packages and prices to narrow down my choices. As others have mentioned Covid has forced brides to reschedule and if its still hanging out next yer (hope not) then many more brides will move into 2022 from 2020 and 2021.
