Should i order invites or wait??

Amber, on May 13, 2020 at 8:36 AM Posted in Community Conversations 0 16
Hi my wedding is September 5, 2020. We haven't ordered our invites yet bc of the current situation, but I'm freaking out now because they should be going out in June and it takes a while for everything to ship and process. Our state is starting to lift restrictions, but my county is still under a stay at home order. I'm also sure that there will be restrictions for the wedding but they haven't released any details really. What should I do 😭

Truthfully I would still get the invites, there’s still 4 months until your wedding. Stay positive!!😊

I am getting married August 1 and we just sent ours out! We need numbers by July 1, so we had to send them a little early. What we did is add a little business card in there about the situation and told people to check our website for updates. Let me know if you want a picture of what we did Smiley smile

If I was you, I would order them and send them with a little note! We decided we would do an electronic postponement if we have to do so!

You Should Get Them And Send Them Out As You Normally Would. If You Need To Postpone Or Cut The Guestlist Closer To The Date, You Can Notify Them .

My wedding is on August 29, 2020, and I still got my invites. If we need to postpone, my venue won't let us know till mid-June or 1st week of July at the latest. If this wedding is still on, and we hear back on 1st week of July, it'll be really late to send out invitations. So I just got them and sending them by the end of the month, with a Covid-19 information card with our soft date. Might as well send the details now - if it's postponed, at least people will know the location details for next year.

And I ordered from Ann's Bridal Bargains.... I ordered them yesterday, and they're on track to arrive tomorrow! Super fast!

Unless your venue needs your numbers really early, you don't actually have to send out invitations until July. Think about what you would do if there are different restrictions. If you're only allowed to have 50 people, for example, would you cut your guest list, or would you postpone the whole thing? If you think you would have a smaller wedding, it definitely makes sense to order the invitations ASAP, because you can always just not send some of them out. My wedding's August 8th, so I really do need to order my invitations now, but I'm waiting for guidance from my state before making the decision. My plan is to place the order this week so I can get proofs. If we don't change anything, I'll have them printed as is. If we have to postpone, I'll give the printing company the new date and have them printed when the new date gets closer.

September is still a few months away and right before flu season or when they think Covid cases could potentially rise again so you have that on your side! I'm not sure which state you live in, I'm in California and my Doctor gave me strict instructions of no weddings/large gatherings over 50 people INDOORS until they have a vaccine (I am pregnant and have an autoimmune disorder). I have to now post pone my July wedding for a second time now because we have family traveling out of state who also doesn't feel comfortable traveling on a plane without there being a vaccine. It really depends on the situation, how many people, and what state you live in. At the end of the day I wish you nothing but the most happiness with your fiancee just try not to stress too much during these difficult time. No matter what remember LOVE WINS!

I would send them still. my bff's is late sept and she still sent hers out this month. a lot can happen in the next 4-5 months and although it is all so uncertain, at the same time, you can still move forward with your life and plans as best as you can in hopes things will work out ya know?

I would personally wait. You may have to limit your guest list or even postpone. However, if you feel like ordering them would lessen your anxiety and you can afford to do so, by all means, go for it!

    This is a good suggestion.

But also, I think now is a great time to consider electronic invitations (e.g., Paperless Post) even if that wouldn't be your "normal" preference. Nothing is currently "normal" and it's just practical to look at all your options, allow for change, and have Plans B, C, etc. This isn't about "staying positive!!" vs. being negative. It's simply less stressful to be flexible from the start.

I am also getting married September 5th. I decided to skip physical invitations (even though I loved them 😭) and I emailed/texted everyone screenshots of the invites for them to print on their own or do what they will. That way when I probably have to cancel, I am not out $300 in invites. It sucks but it was better than wasting money. I also set up all online RSVP.

We are getting married 8/22. I ordered my invites from Ann's Bridal Bargains this past Friday and received them Monday. We are still planning on sending all of them out and then as we get RSVPs back and see where we are with our numbers and go from there. If we have to cut the guest list, so be it. Either way we are getting married on our date with as many people as allowed. I'm in Wisconsin and things are very slowly starting to start functioning again...we are planning on including a note in there that due to the uncertain times any changes will be communicated on our website.

The backup plan is that Shutterfly provides new invites if your date changes for free Smiley smile
