Should I invite my mom's boss?

bridget, on September 15, 2016 at 10:10 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 13

Ok, I already know that I'm inviting my boss because we've known each other for 15 years. My question is, do I invite my mom's boss? She said she's not sure if I "have" to but I think I should.

Here's why I think I should:

1. Many many moons ago I used to babysit his 3 sons (who are all in or out of college now)

2. His wife is my former roommate's (who is like a sister to me) cousin

3. He is currently my doctor

So based on that should I invite him and his wife???

You don't have to invite anybody, but I would suspect there's a million other people you need to invite first... Invite them if you have extra seats.

    What? Why?! No!

It actually seems really weird unless he is actually a close family friend, but it doesn't seem like he is.

I don't see any reason why you should invite him.

Unless you really want him there, there's no need to invite him.

Nope, nope, nope! No offense - but none of these seem like good reasons to invite someone!

Omg! WWlynnie why have I not seen this before! This should be a sticky!

At least I now feel a lot guilty cutting my guest list to bare minimum!

It seems you have more of a business relationship with this person than a personal one. Have you spent any time socially with this person in the last 12 months? Don't turn your wedding into a reunion, keep the guest list to the people who are meaningful to you right now.

    Do you want him there?

Based on that, you have your answer.
