Should i have a seating chart?

Mary, on November 19, 2019 at 7:15 AM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 4
I’m contemplating whether I should have a seating chart ( by table). We are having a buffet meal and there will only be about 60 people. I am for sure going to be at the head table along with the groom and bridal party. I was also curious about a kids table? Has anyone done that? And how did it go?

I would always opt for a seating chart. It's less awkward for guests and will save you money in the long run. Without a seating chart, you will need to account for 20% more tables, seating, centerpieces, etc. since guests don't seat themselves efficiently. I also think it's fine to have a kids table for them to do activities, but they should be seated with their parents for dinner.

I agree with PP. much easier with a seating chart and if the parents are in the bridal party I would do sweetheart table instead so they can sit with their kids.

I'm the oddball on this site. We are going the no seating chart route. For us, it's a "know your crowd" thing. My people are all plenty capable of finding a chair. We are also not having many large numbered groups mostly just couples. Those with larger families are my siblings that will be at reserved family tables.
