Should i find my florist in the town i live in or the one I'm getting married in? Also fake flowers or real flowers?

DanteNicole, on July 8, 2020 at 10:55 PM Posted in Planning 0 17

I asked a similar question about the baker lol, but for the florist I would assume they travel more I think. I'm not sure...What did you guys do when you go married in a different city and what all would the florist do? I know they'll do the bouquet, boutonnière, and center pieces but what else? Out of all the detail in wedding planning this is the most foreign to me, because I thought it was simply the bouquet and then I get engaged and it's not just the bouquet lol.

Also what do you guys think is better, a fake bouquet or a real one. I'm leaning towards fake because I want to keep as a memory sake. I was thinking of having a glass-door cabinet to have a few of my wedding momentous like the wedding broom, cake toppers, and guest book etc. So I thought it would be cute to have the bouquet there. But I love the smell of real flowers.

Fake or not fake is preference. But for me a fake flower is a big no no. I chose the florist from my venue because it’s a destination wedding and I don’t want to risk the delivery for being late or disappointing result. I will dry the bouquet after the ceremony and keep it as a memoir next to my dress. I will get a huge display glass to pin my dress in, the vows, and everything I can think of.

Try to get all your vendors in the city you are marrying in so they don't charge you extra for travel.

Real flowers all the way. You can't recreate the look, texture or smell with artificial flowers without spending 10x or more the price of real flowers. If allergies are a concern, florists regularly remove the pollen so it isn't an issue.
Many women don't care about keeping the bouquet because they are retaining the memories with photography.

A florist in the city your wedding will take place. If you do select fake flowers, try and get a higher quality.

We did fake flowers, and it saved us a ton of money. Not to mention my father didn't spend the entire night fighting allergies...

But fake or real is entirely up to you and what you like.

Because we used fake, we used a vendor clear across the country. No one realized my bouquet was fake.

Location of vendors depends on how far away your wedding is from them. My florist is in my city but a 50min-1 hour drive (in traffic) from us, but she came in at much cheaper than florists ‘in the area’. Personally I would look at vendors based on your preference and price because at the end of the day, most vendors will charge a fee to come out to the venue - again though this is really dependent on where your wedding actually is. If it’s in a whole other city, go with vendors closer.

I personally hate fake flowers because even the higher quality ones still look cheap to me (I’m also a perfectionist and a Virgo so I’m neurotic about these things), BUT if budget is really tight, they may be the better option.

We're Doing All Fake Flowers. I Hate The Idea Of Spending Triple The Amount For Real Flowers That Will Just End Up Dying.

I did real for bouquets, arch, bouts/corsages bc my husband insisted and that was a little too much diy for me, and fake for centerpieces and aisle markers bc those were going to be like $100 per table. There was no way I was paying that much and everything matched. Definitely get a florist and baker in the town you’re getting married in.

If you want real flowers, go with with the one in the city you are getting married at. Real flowers need to be chilled and kept at a certain humidity to not wilt.
I'm going with silk flowers due to budget.

My thoughts exactly! We are doing fake flowers also, aside from the price I’m not really a flower person anyways!

I’m doing fake flowers at my wedding. I refuse to spend so much money on real flowers when they will just die anyways. I’m also not a flower person but I ordered some artificial ones from amazon and they’re so pretty!

I think fake or real is completely up to you. But if you choose real you can keep your bouquet and preserve it through someone who does preservations you can ask your florist some people make beautiful shadow boxes which is what I’m doing and I would def say choose one closer to your venue they typically know your venue and traveling is closer. I chose real but it’s entirely up to you. Good luck!!
