I live in one city but I'm getting married in another, should I find a baker in the city I live in or the city I'm getting married in. I know there's travel fees but I have to taste the cake and I don't wanna drive two hours for cake. What did you brides do?

I would find out the travel cost for a local bakery and see if their delivery area is even that far out. I know a lot of places where I live won’t go beyond a certain number of miles so it might make the decision for you! If they will deliver that far out and you’re comfortable with the price then a local bakery is fine.

I think it makes more sense to find a bakery that is more local to where your wedding will be.

I say you're safer with less travel. Can a bakery possibly ship samples to you?

I would personally recommend going with one near where you're getting married. You can certainly check with a baker near where you live and inquire about the travel fees and whether they would even travel that far; some bakers have a certain travel radius and that may be outside that distance. If you don't have your heart set on one particular baker you already love, i'd consider checking out ones closer to your venue. You can even ask your venue for recommendations! Tasting wedding cake is always fun, but for the most part, cake is relatively similar no matter where you go. Maybe you can buy something from a baker near your venue online and they can ship it to you so you don't have to travel there?!

If you’re worried about the time and distance it will take to do a cake tasting in the city in which your wedding will be held, I would recommend asking bakers in your wedding city if they would be willing to send you a cake tasting kit via mail. I just did this because I’m getting married in New Orleans but I live in Florida and my fiancé lives in Texas. We just hired a baker who sent us 2 tasting kits to try since there is no telling when we’ll get back to NOLA considering everything going on now. While some bakers were against the idea, there were plenty who were willing to find a creative way to accommodate us even though we are long distance.
