Should i check on my dress or stay patient

Monica, on January 5, 2020 at 3:47 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 14
Yesterday marked 90 days and Lately I have been thinking about my dress a lot and starting to feel really antsy. I ordered the dress in September so its only been 4 months. When I placed the order she said the typical “it will take up to 6months but if its in stock it will arrive sooner”. A full 6mo wait means it will arrive in March, wedding is April 4th.

It doesn’t hurt to call right? Or should I wait until the end of the month to allow for more time.

They told you it could take 6 months, I'm not sure why you'd call after 3. I was quoted 6 months as well and it arrived in 5, I never called to ask, but I'm sure they would have said "it will arrive within 6 months."

I can definately understand your anxiety I'm sure they get calls all the time to check in on progress. if it will help you feel better to just ask about the progress then I would it's not gonna hurt anyone

With the 6 months being that close, I would call and check on alterations. The store I got my dress from does not do alterations so I had to book somebody privately and seamstresses will be crazy that time of year because of prom! You’ll have a win-win situation, being able to figure out a possible timeline for it coming in and hopefully getting alterations set up now so you’re not in a huge bind!

You were told six months so I would wait 6 months. If it came in early, I'm sure they would call you.

Oooh! That is a good one girl I completely forgot about prom!! Im getting a mix of responses so I think what I will do is call at the end of the month to get an estimate time and ask about alterations like you said. The good thing is that my MIL is a home seamstress (kind of, but she does alterations for prom dresses) can do some alterations for me but I definitely need bustles added which I dont think she can do.

Girl I just want to post that I feel your anxiety. I ordered a dress from David's Bridal after deciding my first dress was not for me, and now I'm waiting with an estimate of March. I'd follow your plan, call at the end of the month and check so you can at least try to ease your anxiety. I'm even more miffed because ordering my dress online shows it arriving next week, but it's been almost 3.

    Just a lot of

But even if it gets here in March at the worst, it should be ok. A good seamstress will probably be able to make it work! Good luck!

😂 yess. Also true that even if it arrives in March it will be okay I will find a way to make it work esp with my MILs help. Im just trying to check stuff off my list and I see ppl on here saying they in the same timeframe as me but are already doing their fittings im like Ahhhh! It doesn’t help that After we already placed the order I called the next day to change the dress size. So my craziness in my head is thinking what If they didn’t correct the size like I asked and the dress barely comes in March! Lol

Omg yes! I ordered a size up, but I've lost more weight and will probably find that what I've ordered is too big. Which is not helping my anxiety lol. Yeah, I feel you. It's KILLING me to not know how much work is left, but I have to trust that if nothing else I can probably grab something off of the rack - my mom did that for hers and it fit her well.

I ordered a size up too!! I had woke up in the middle of the night like omg what if i dont lose weight and gain weight instead & immediately called the next morning. According to my measurements of the original size I needed to lose 1inch in my waist. I noticed we have the same date 🙌🏼 Lol at least we feel each others pain.

I had to reorder a dress because I lost a ton of weight, and I'm still dropping inches around. They actually told me to stop losing weight, but my changes are for my health (I'm diabetic and need to watch my sugar). I'm hoping they can fix it when its inevitably too big lol. The not knowing is the hardest part! Yes, we picked 4/4 because it was a free weekend in April that our venue had. I love the idea of an April wedding too, so it all works out! Hopefully the dresses will too!

Oooh girl congrats! I just had my first fitting, and my dress fit amazingly well. A little tight in the hips, but otherwise it was good! Hopefully yours will fit beautifully and make you look amazing.

Yes! When I called to ask the manager must have heard my anxiety- she put a rush shipping on it! I was paranoid about it not fitting, but it actually went really well. I was pretty pleased.
