Should i be concerned?!

Today was my first alterations appointment. I was very excited but my excitement soon turned to distress. The seamstress who was assisting me seemed rather rude and not very knowledgeable about how to customize the dress for me. I asked her if adding cups would be best her answer was “I don’t know” (very dry) and when we added the cup and it looked bunched up she was not going to fix it. I had to be overly vocal with her and I’ve never experienced this before. Is this normal, to have to be so vocal for someone to do their job? Please let me know your thoughts and experiences. Also she didn’t pin the back of my dress, it didn’t fit at all by my bottom and she was going to just leave it like that. When I brought it up she said “ohhh you want that pinned too?” I’m not sure what to think but she is the dress shop’s seamstress so I don’t want to take it else where and be held liable.

The dress shop typically in no way warranties the seamstresses work. And usually the ones that work in a shop are overpriced anyway. No reason to stay with her.

I would so go somewhere else. I moved two hours away from my seamstress and will be going back to her for my wedding gown. I never have to ask her to do anything! She is always right on top of things does wonderful work and very quickly!! She altered my prom dress and made all the beading and everything line up! Can’t wait to go back and use her again!! So I’d find someone who is on top of it and willing to help!! Sorry you had that experience!
    Hope this helps 😊

I would be very concerned. My seamstress is amazing & she made me feel instantly comfortable. We talked about eat, pray love, she told me that she was going to her bf high school reunion (bc per her, the second most volume of weddings she sees is linking her after a reunion - first is online). She took photo of different variations & told me to get back to her within 48 hrs so I could share w/ my friends & family for their opinions.

You should definitely go somewhere else. She seems like she has no idea what she's doing and you don't want her to screw up and ruin your dress and THEN have to pay for additional alterations. Not to mention she's being very rude to you.

Im sorry you had such a poor experience. No, this is not normal. You are leaving your precious dress in her care and if you dont feel welcomed and listened to, I wouldnt let her cut into it.

I would find someone else to do your dress. You don’t need to have to deal with that.

Take it someplace else! That is very unprofessional behavior and a good seamstress is proactive at pinning your dress to make you look fabulous.

This was a terrible experience. I had my first seamstress appointment today, and she was very friendly and vocal. You should go somewhere else

Thank you ladies for the support and feedback! I am going to call the dress shop tomorrow to have a conversation with them about my concerns. If we can’t come to an agreement I will take my dress elsewhere. My wedding is October 11th, 2019. I’m beyond stressed and just worried with how little time left I have. Thanks again for the support ladies!

I would try to talk the person who is over her and find another seamstress with experience who know what they are doing because you want your dress to be perfect for your wedding day.
