Should all photos from photographers be edited?

Krystyna, on September 15, 2019 at 8:34 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 8
We noticed that in most of our pictures, the photographer did edit out a huge red mosquito bite on my husband’s forehead. He said let him know which photos we pick for the album and he can edit them. My husband wants him to edit ALL of the photos we received on the file that you can see the mosquito bite. We received roughly 1500 photos. Is that something the photographer should do? It seems like a lot of work but my husband says we are paying them a lot of money so all of them should be edited. Thoughts?

Does the contract mention anything? Some photographers give you all of the raw (unedited) photos. Most that I contacted only give you edited ones, for example 600 of the 2000 they actually took that day.

I'm thinking the photographer would charge extra for editing all the photos. Editing is definitely expensive

I imagine you can ask to get the photos edited but be prepared to pay more. It can be time consuming! Ours gave us back unedited photos and will only edit the ones we requested for our album.

Our photographer edited all of our photos (800 or so) before giving them to us. Definitely check your contract.

Contract just says all photos will be high resolution. Also he said he edited the photos, which many he did but I’d say at least half are not

Your photographer may have edited for clarity, but not necessarily for "imperfections". I have a friend who only edits for clarity purposes but states that in his contract what edit means. I would ask if your contract doesn't state it plainly.

Are all of those 1500 photos different? Are you going to buy prints of all 1500, or even look at all of them again? Typically, your album will include X number of photos (should be in your contract), anything beyond what is included in your chosen package/collection will cost more.

The 1500 photos are all of the photos they took, so some are similar. We are printing about half of them
