Shot glasses as favors?

Meghan, on August 30, 2017 at 9:26 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 30

Found some cute and affordable personalized shot glasses we can do as favors. Good idea?

Honestly? No. I am not ever going to use a personalised shot glass with someone else's name ever again - I probably wouldn't take it home with me. Food favors are best! My cousin also had a lovely idea - she is a plant breeder by trade and she propagated herbs in small pots which served as place cards and favors and everyone took them home.

Nope, we'd have no use for it. We already have a lifetime's worth, from places we've gone on vacation, which are meaningful to us.

I'm a wine drinker and hubby a beer drinker. When we entertain, we serve wine, beer, wine coolers, and then batches of a couple cocktails.

There is no good personalized favor, other than perhaps a bottle of wine with a personalized label.

How many items do you have in your home personalized with someone else's wedding information?

I actually still have two shot glasses on my shelf from one of my cousin's weddings.

The closest I get to taking a shot at home is taste testing a swig of a new alcohol. I'd put it in the back of the cupboard and never touch it again...

Nope. No one cares to have someone else's info on an item that they are to use often. I would leave that at the wedding table/or throw out when I get home honestly

I took the shot glasses home from a wedding. I don't mind keeping it in my cabinet. They were cute.

This is a super common favor and I have a ton from prior weddings but never use them. I had considered stemless wine glasses, as they're bigger and can be used to drink a larger amount. I decided against them as they would be a hassle to bring to the venue.

    Here's something even better:

Mini bottles of alcohol with personalized labels. That way the bottles could just be recycled and voila! No more stuff you'll never use again to clutter the cabinets even further.

I have a whole cabinet of shot glasses that collect dust. The only time I take a shot at home is when I come home from drinking all night and decide that taking a shot is a fantastic idea. Usually it isn't.

I'd love another shot glass. We're in our mid-20s though so at 25 we still collect shot glasses. I'd love to have one from a friends wedding! I guess it depends on your crowd.

I have a ton of shot glasses because FH used to collect them from the different places he traveled to. I have yet to convince him that they are useless and just collect dust. I hope someone "accidentally" drops the box of them on our next move or they "mistakenly" get left behind. No one wants more shot glasses they won't use.

I collect shot glasses! I think they're cute and a nice piece of memorabilia.

Honestly though, most personalized favors would be left and you'd end up with most of what you ordered. People don't need or want a reminder of someone else's wedding. It's be a waste of money.

Food favors are the way to goooo!!! Mmm food haha

No thanks.. I don't have any use for a shot glass and even if I did I wouldn't want one with someone else's names on it lol.

Nope waste of money to me. My co-worker did the same thing 2 years ago and I just saw it cleaning up still in the plastic bag she put it in. Find something else.

I don't drink, would never use it. I would probably take it and put it in the cabinet cause I would feel bad NOT taking it. Then it would sit and collect dust :-(

I would never use it and I find them to be not so classy at a wedding.... my family also has several recovering alcoholics and I would never give something alcohol related as it can be a touchy subject for some....

Yeah I agree with PP not super classy and I have been gifted shot glasses whether they were given to me as souvenirs as gifts, or favors from birthdays/weddings, and I can honestly say that they just collect dust!

We use shot glasses all the time and we're almost 30. I'd love a personal shot glass
