Shortening trunk boning on wedding dress - anyone done it? (dress was already altered once)

Okay, I bought my wedding dress almost 4 years ago. No, I'm not crazy. I was engaged before (broken) and fell in love with my dress when looking at that point in time. It was one of the few things I picked solely for myself last time. Anyway, FH was a friend of mine at the time and knows I kept it in hopes of someday wearing it/is comfortable with me wearing it now (plus they're $$ :p).

There is only one thing that I didn't like about the dress - and frankly now that I've gained a few lbs it has become more apparent to me, and that's where the boning that runs vertically along my ribcage and down through to my hips (like a corset - no boning in the bust) hits on my lap in the front. I have a short torso and would like to have the boning shortened so that I am more comfortable sitting (dress is NOT strapless). How difficult is this? I also need it taken out a bit (about 3/4 in) along my ribs and 1 inch in the hips. Appt is 3 months before wedding. It had minor alterations done before.
