Short person long dress

Alexis, on August 26, 2021 at 9:53 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 12
So I just bought my dress and I’m 5’2” the dress was the last of its kind they couldn’t order any more and it just so happened to be my size the only major problem is that I’m short the picture is of me standing on their pedestal so I’m worried that it’s too long and because of the lace at the bottom concerned about getting it hemmed Short person long dress 1

I think that you still would be able to get it hemmed, definitely talk to a seamstress though to get their opinion.

The seamstress at Davids Bridal that I talked to for my dress said part of the cost of hemming the dress included the cost of moving the lace to adjust for the shortening of the hem.

I'm short too (5'0) and there is lace at the bottom of my dress. The seamstress took the lace off the fabric to be able to hem the bottom, then added the lace back. This is very common for a seamstress to do. Does the salson where you purchased the dress have ian n house seamstress? If so they typically understand and have probably worked on this dress before for a different bride.

They should be able to hem and add the lace back on

Haven't had it done myself but like others have said, pretty sure a seamstress can take the bottom lace off, hem the dress, and sew the lace back on.

They will be able to hem it up. I'm 5'2 as well and my dress fabric was very similar and I had no issues with it getting hemmed.
Here's a picture of the dress

Agree with all the others! Either the lace can be removed and replaced, or they'll separate the skirt and bodice from each other and remove the extra length from there, rather than the bottom.

I'm 5'7'' but I bought a sample sale dress and had to have a ton of alterations done to it -- including shortening the length. My dress had a ton of lace and some beading on the bottom and my seamstress was able to hem it no problem!

I'm also 5'2" and had horsehair at the bottom of my dress as well as lace and they were able to take it off and then put it back on no problem.

Such alterations are made all the time. They'll take the lace off and put it back on. Gorgeous dress!
