Short, Curvy Girls...what are you wearing?

I'm struggling with how clothes look on me in general. Wedding dress is no different. When I got married the first time, I weighed 100 pounds at 5'3" this was easy. Anything worked. 17 years later, I am between 165-170 (and still 5'3" haha). I'm 36D. I have hips. I also have a bit of a belly thanks...

17 years later, I am between 165-170 (and still 5'3" haha). I'm 36D. I have hips. I also have a bit of a belly thanks to PCOS that I am rather self-conscious about. Don't get me wrong. I love my curves (other than the belly). I actually prefer myself now to when I was super thin.

I plan on going to try on dresses sometime soon when my friend and I can have the same schedule. For now...I am having fun looking online (and occasionally ordering and trying on and sending back). I have my eye on 2 online right now. One is on it's way here. The other will likely be on it's way here after I send the last failure back.

We're planning a 1920s theme wedding...so my dress does not have to be, and likely won't be traditional. I know most people go the traditional route and that's okay...I'd just love to see what you shorter, curvier girls are wearing on your wedding day. Please post pics!

This one is on it's way to me.

I am loving this one too.

cfb_1223995.jpgI'm really liking this one online and it will be on it's way here when I send back the other one I didn't like.

Here is a pic from a girl in the reviews who says she's 5'3" and 220. She rocks it and I am hoping that means it will look great on me too!

This is a girl from the reviews of this dress who is short like me and weighs a significant bit more. She looks AMAZING in this dress, so it gives me hope.cfb_1223997.jpg

I totally get where you are coming from. I am 5'1, weigh a bit more than you and have struggled with my post partum belly for years now. I was scared of how I would look in dresses but all I have to say is remember if something does not look right it's not you, it's the garment. There are dresses that won't look good and others that will accentuate your curves and flatter you immensely. Don't be afraid to try things on. I felt amazing in my dress and I hope you find the one that makes you feel the same way! Good Luck!

We will see how that one looks when it gets here. I'm not sure if I will love it or hate it. I think it'll be one or the other.

This is my dress. I didn’t want anything floor length, I felt like it was way too formal for our casual beach wedding. I also felt like floor length dresses didn’t flatter my somewhat short (5’6”), big belly, big chested frame. It’s so unfair-I get all the downsides to being big but none of the benefits-I have no butt and NO hips.

    Thanks.
You would think so, but I’m on my third pair of shoes and I’m still not happy. I’ll be barefoot for the ceremony but I need something for the reception.

I am 5'4", a street size 14, and a 34G. I initially thought I needed an A-line to hide my stomach, but they honestly all made me look bigger. My consultant put me in a fit and flare, and I loved it. It has a corset inside so it flattens my tummy, and it gives me a gorgeous hour glass shape. I would suggest you try on some styles in a store even if you decide to by online just so you get a feel for how you look in a few different types of dresses.

Oh my goodness, I feel your pain! I'm 5'5" and well... I weigh alot. And I have PCOS too! My weigh is definitely in my hips and thighs...

I like the first style the most to be honest! And...

I would 100% absolutely recommend trying something on IN PERSON before buying online. Sometimes you go in expecting to get a certain style, and you fall inlove with something else!

I am wearing a ballgown from Stella York Smiley smile Here's some pics!

Initially I thought I wanted something a bit more form fitting and the fit and flare style. SUPER glad I didn’t go wit that! This is an A-line gown and is form fitting up top, but flowy at my natural waist. I think it slims me down a ton and makes me look amazing. I always suggest going dress shopping with an open mind because what you think you want, may not be what actually compliments your figure best. Side note, I’m 5’4 and 210lbs.

That’s gorgeous. I think part of my issue is that I DO NOT want a traditional wedding dress.
