Short brides!

Ashley, on April 20, 2021 at 5:20 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 2 17
I am 4’11 I found my dress haven’t gotten altered yet!
I wanted to know what alterations did everyone make?
I have a train and I love it but I’m afraid Someone might step on it or I might fall😂. Did anyone stick with the train in the back and just shortened the front? Short brides! 1

I’m 5’2” and I got an Oleg Cassini wedding dress in a petite size. It’s supposed to fit better on anyone’s who’s under 5’3”.

No matter what your height, you should get the train bustled so that you can tuck it up out of the way after your ceremony. If you don't, people will definitely step on it.

Sadly they didn’t have any petite dresses at the time or any that I liked. I’m probably gonna get a bustle for the dress!

I'm 5' 0.5" (yup that half inch is important to me). I have to get the shoulders shortened on my dress and the bottom hemmed/trimmed. It's a sleeveless v-neck so that shouldn't be too much of an issue. No train on my dress, just a raw-edged tule skirt down to the floor.

Both of my alterations are definitely because it is not a petite size. All the rest of the proportions fit perfectly.
I agree with others: bustle that train! Doesn't matter how you do it so long as you can get it up out of the way and it is still comfortable to sit down in.

I'm 4'11 and I'm just going to get the front altered to work with whatever shoes I'll be wearing!

If you're worried about the train, getting it bustled is an option many brides do!

Hi Ashley! Fellow 4’ 11” bride here 😂 I know for mine I’m getting it shortened just in the front and the train bustled. Mine has sleeves so the sleeve length I think will be altered, and then pinned up from the shoulders because it’s a bit long in that sense too

I'm 5'3" and my dress is knee-length so I don't have to deal with any of that. But one of my best friends who is 4'11" got married a few years ago and definitely has experience with that! Her dress was shortened a lot in the front and only by a couple inches in the train. It was gorgeous watching her walk down the aisle and wasn't too hard to fan it out once she got to the altar. (I was MoH, so I got to do that.) She had it bustled for the reception and there was never an issue with anyone stepping on it.

    This was from her ceremony:

And then bustled up for the reception:

I’m 4”11 as well and did not shortened my train, it’s one of the favorite things about my dress so I wasn’t shortening it. If you’re worry about it you should bustle it! I didn’t bustle mine because Of cost it was an extra $160 so my sister safety pinned my train and it worked out! I didn’t shorten my train but I did hem the front
And shortened the straps and took an inch in
    The back of my dress.
