Heck no girl, don't let anyone tell you that!!!

People were telling me left and right what dress types to avoid, to the point where people were telling me to avoid EVERY dress type. It was crazy. (I'm 5'0 tall, and about 100 lbs - Similar build to you, I'm sure.) And it was like, avoid ball gowns - they make me look short. Avoid mermaids - they make me look short. Avoid A Line - I look flat. Blah blah blah. I got so frustrated too.

Some times people suggest things, whether they know it or not, things that they think would look good on themselves. My beautiful FMIL admitted the dresses she was suggesting were dresses that she would have picked out... Not dresses that were good for me. So take everyone's opinion with a grain of salt - But feel free to try everything!

Get whatever you want! However, I would at least START shopping at some places before March! That leaves you with a tight 6 month timeline. Why are you not shopping until then?

Don't let anyone tell you what you can or cant wear for your day! That said, still be open to other styles. Look at a few just to make sure that what you have in your head is really what you want. If it is, rock that ball gown and don't let anyone tell you not to.

Girl you go and get that ball gown!!!! they have so many size options! plus theres always alterations. I'm 5'7'' and still had to take almost 3 inches off the bottom of my dress lol

I found that a fuller A-Line gown looks like a ball gown on me! It gave me the ball gown look without overwhelming my frame! Good luck! You will be beautiful!

I'm 4'10 and this was my wedding dress. Big hunkin' ball gown. They had to take like 6 - 10 inches off the bottom because I was stumbling all over it and I had on wedges. I couldn't change into flats or anything that was comfortable, but jfc - I loved this dress. Don't let anyone turn you off to what you want! IF YOU DO THIS -- make sure you are 100% about the shoes you're wearing because when they're done altering, they're done. Make sure the shoes you choose are definitely what you're going to walk down the aisle with, be most comfortable in, etc. If you have secondary shoes on the sideline, make sure that they're as close in height as possible to your 'nicer' shoes if you go that route -- or you'll stumble all over yourself. Being 4'10 and I had about 2.5 in wedges, it was hard to find anything that had a base that I wouldn't stumble about if I changed out shoes.
