Shopping with cheap bridesmaids, putting me in this ugly dress.

I don't think this dress looks so bad in the pictures but I guess wearing it was another story!

I guess that's a good problem to have lol. Usually it's the opposite where people are suggesting $$$$ and the budget is $.

Is your sis maybe concerned about the budget on your behalf? Like that she thinks she's looking out for you? Or on the other side, maybe if she's in the wedding she's worried that if you pick an expensive dress, it means her dress will be as well - and maybe that's not in *her* budget?

I'd investigate with her 1 on 1 in a low pressure setting. Money talks can get high pressure or feel personal real quick. Congrats

I walked in (and quickly out of) a cheesy cheap dress shop like that one day at a mall. Funny enough I saw that same dress hanging (it must be popular). But I definitely agree with you... the dress is poorly made and uses cheap fabric. So passing on it is wise!

I’m sure we all have a store like that at our malls! I definitely recognize dresses like that. It doesn’t look bad and probably wouldn’t photograph bad but if it’s spandex oh heck no, I’d be so itchy!!

Okay, don’t take them shopping with you until you already know what you want.

You do not look excited at all. They don’t sound like they’re actually trying to be helpful. Everyone riding in your 🚘 (life) is not actually riding (there for support) with you , but just along for the ride (to watch what transpires).

Do some online research to pinpoint the style of 👰👗that you want first.

Then, copy and paste them to a document so that you can see them side by side or above and below.

After that, you can narrow it down even more. You could also make notes as to what you like about them once you have gotten down to 1-5 👰👗es. Review the notes and reduce your choices again until you have one or two favorites. You can get a co-worker or someone that is not involved in the Wedding to go with you and take pictures. This way you can see the look on your face while wearing the 👰👗(es). The one that you have the biggest 😃 in while you’re wearing it is your 👰👗.

Oh, you have to make sure that you can at least sit and have your first dance (and Father/Daughter dance if you choose to do that).

You also want to make sure that you’re able to breathe in the 👰👗 and it doesn’t itch, poke, or scratch you. It should be comfortable.

I think a nice conversation with her is necessary so she backs up and this doesn’t turn into a fight later on. You can tell her you appreciate her looking up for you and trying to help you save money but you and fiancé work very hard and already have a budget designated for your wedding dress. Just say you envision looking fabulous and that the shop dress wasn’t your dress. You don’t need to say is cheaply made so you don’t hurt her feelings.

It's not that bad! And $400 is definitely not "cheap" I'd say it's more in the "affordable" category. It's like what WISH app dresses are SUPPOSED to look like.. ha! But if it's not what you want, it's not what you want.

Although, honestly, I walked into one of those dress shops in the mall recently and was a little surprised at the price tags on those dresses because they are cheaply made with ick material. You can do so much better for the price there.

I mean, I'm spending 300 on mine and it's gorgeous and definitely not made of spandex lol. My logic was I didn't want me or my mom to go into debt for a dress that I'll be wearing for a few hours tops and then will gather dust in my closet.

The more important part is that you found it uncomfortable. Mine was very comfortable (and not spandex as I said before haha) but if this dress is uncomfortable then absolutely not. I already saw someone mention Azazie and I wanted to concur as that's where I'm getting my dress. Every wedding dress they have is under 1000 but the quality feels great, and they have an awesome try on program so you can see for yourself before you buy. It might be a good way to compromise, and who knows, if you love one on the website that's a couple thousand you could put towards something else in the wedding. But my whole budget is less than your dress budget so take my input with a grain of salt.
