Shoes for outdoor ceremony.

mcBRIDEtobe, on December 21, 2017 at 6:20 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 21
Hi everyone! So I’m trying to decide what shoes to wear during the big day! I’m having an outdoor ceremony and will be walking down a grass aisle. I was thinking of purchasing wedges, but I can’t seem to find any that I like! Also, my mom really wants me to wear her shoes from her wedding (which I would absolutely love to do.) They are a very low heel but I’m still afraid getting stuck in the grass and falling on my face (I’m pretty clumsy) 😣 which is why I’m leaning more toward wedges. Does anyone have suggestions about what shoes work best for the grass or if a low heel is even do-able?

Thank you!

    I would definitely say wedges.

My feet sank so bad the last time I wore heels in the grass. (It hadn't rained in like a week) I think it would happen with any height, tbh. I'm sure it depends on the type of grass/dirt they have but that's too intricate. To be safe, I say wedges!

You can buy something like this to protect the heel and stop it from digging in the grass. They work great

I purchased a pair of wedges from David's bridal. Have you tried DSW? Also the grass walkers that were suggested are nice if you wanna just wear your heels.

I'm thinking of getting a chunky heel. I saw formal wedges last time I went to DSW

I bought flats. I didn't want to risk the possibility of a fall, even with heel protectors. No one will really see my shoes anyway. Plus, I don't need to buy a second set of shoes for comfort later. I still feel bridal without being in heels.

I'm planning on wearing wedges but could not find any ones with lace I like until someone recommended shoesofprey.com to me. It's great because I can customize them so they are exactly how I want!

OP If you use these make sure you practice walking in the grass with them first. It's a slightly different experience and you'll want to make sure you have the correct size in the heel you're wearing.

Wedges would be great if you can find some you like, but have you considered wearing flats?

Thank you. I’ve never used the grass walkers before so I would definitely have to practice walking in them first. I have considered flats however, my mom is really wanting me to wear her shoes as my “something borrowed.” They’re comfortable and fit me well. They just don’t really go with my dress at all and I’m afraid of sinking/ falling.

This is exactly my feeling toward shoes! I want to be comfortable and I don’t want to sink into the grass or fall. I also don’t want to spend a ton of money on them since, like you said, no one will see them. My mom just really wants me to wear hers and as much as I’d love to, I don’t know how practical it would be to wear them.

I bought a 2.8 inch block heel from shoesofprey.com I only had to cross a tiny patch of grass, but they were fine on that amd on packed dirt.

You're braver than I am, I'm super clumsy and afraid of tripping on my day so I'm going flats. The grass walkers are interesting though, I haven't seen those before.

If you want heels for height, 100% wedges.

i didnt want heels so i did flats, but i considered wedges. we're getting married in a garden and regular heels would sink into the ground... i didnt want to risk that on expensive shoes!
