Shoes dilemma

littlemisssunshine, on January 31, 2023 at 10:51 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 7

I know it's recommended to bring your shoes with you when you are looking for your dress...but I don't know what I want for shoes!!! I like heels, and have a few pairs that would be the height I'd probably wear, but I also LOVE my Chucks. I have been tossing around the idea of both and changing into Chucks during the reception since I'm also planning a dress change...anyone else having trouble with this decision? Thinking I'll bring shoes of the correct height when I go dress hunting. Would it be tacky to use a pair of shoes for my wedding that I could wear for other events, or a pair that I already have but haven't worn? I don't know if I want to spend money on a pair of shoes that I only wear ONCE. I have a cute pair of silver heel sandals that I bought for a formal event that I've only worn twice....

If you are unsure if you want heels or Flats, bring the heels with you, fabric can be cut not added.

Honestly if the silver shoes look fine then go for it. Just wear something comfortable and easy to walk in.

You can absolutely wear shoes you have and/or will wear for other events. I'm going with nude colored shoes so I can wear them again. My FH is 6'5" so I'm going for sky high heels so the pictures look better, but I'm not used to wearing super high heels, so I'm going for a platform, a chunky heel and LOTS of practice.

I didn't bring any special shoes with me when I went dress shopping. I didn't need to bring the actual shoes I planned on wearing until alternations. Also you can definitely wear a pair of shoes that you already own. There isn't any real reason you'd have to buy new shoes unless you wanted to.

You need to have your shoes for the alterations appointment to make sure the dress is hemmed to the correct length. However, you absolutely don’t need to have any shoes picked out for dress shopping. I actually bought my shoes after the dress to make sure that the shoes I wore would go with the dress.

With me, I don't really care much about shoes since I figure that if I am wearing a long dress people won't see them, it is one of those things for me that I really don't care about. I think it is more common than you think for brides to purchase shoes that they can wear after the wedding to formal events more than you think. As much as I am drawn to the Irregular Choice shoes, I think I will go with the practical option.

I am honestly glad someone brought this up because I wouldn't even think about picking out the shoes first before dress shopping.

Many bridal salons prefer brides to go barefoot, so you don't need your shoes picked just yet. Barefoot (or socks) makes changing faster, keeps dresses clean without shoe dirt, and lessens tripping hazards when you must step into a dress. Ps. i think you're going to be a Chucks bride. Smiley smile There are many ways you or a designer can customize your kicks.

Thank you everyone for the input! I think I’ll wear my Hey Dudes for dress shopping for ease of putting on and off and just kind of move on from there! One step at a time right??
