Shepherd's Hooks

PurpleSun, on March 7, 2013 at 10:26 AM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 40

Okay so I saw in "The things that excite you when you are planning..." post that Meagan got Shepherd Hooks at Dollar Tree. But I can't find them online (gah!).

Have any of y'all found Shepherd Hooks for a good price anywhere else?

Update: FOUND IT! See post below ^_^ *happy dance*

Update #2:

- Dollar Tree has flag holders that are similar but slightly more flimsy: http://www.dollartree.com/Spring-Fling/garden-and-outdoors/Metal-Garden-Flag-Poles-38-frac34-/400c333c333p336324/index.pro#

- Dollar Tree also has real shepherd hooks, but in-store only

- 99cent store has the real shepherd hooks for $1 each, but so far we have only been able to find them in-store and not online. see http://www.99only.com/ for a location near you!

My mom suggested using garden stakes/poles from Home Depot (http://www.homedepot.com/p/t/100342858?catalogId=10053&langId=-1&keyword=stake&storeId=10051&N=5yc1v&R=100342858#.UTiyhR2E1n4) and tying ribbon to them, but I would love to have Shepherd Hooks instead!

Try Craigslist! I see them on my local page pretty frequently.

This may be a dumb question but what are they used for? Centerpiece flowers?

@Samantha - you can hang lanterns from them, string ribbon, hold buckets, etc.

PurpleSun, You have time keep checking the dollar stores. Our store is just starting to get spring in. Check Dollar general too.

Thanks! I have 2 large ones (over 6 ft. tall) that I am using just behind the 2 chairs in the last row closest to the aisle. Our outdoor ceremony decorations are minimal - nothing can compete with the mountain views - but I am putting flowing hanging baskets here (from Home Depot) to add a little more color.

What are you putting on those- those aren't shepherds hooks, they are flag posts. They are not very sturdy and I dont know if they would even hold a jar. Def a good price if they work though!

Yea they aren't the thick iron poles, but we are only putting ribbon to blow in the wind, and maybe some light tulle. No pails on these!

However, my mom is going to the store now to check out how sturdy they are @ Jamie

But i'm pretty sure this is what the other girls were talking about in the other forum!

Where Purple Sun?? I had all but given up on shepherd hooks because I just didn't want to spend that much on a bunch of them.

@HikerBride - the ones at the dollar store are "flag poles" and so aren't as sturdy, but she found real ones at the 99cent store (that is really what it is called)
