Sheath slip?

Caitlin, on March 3, 2017 at 11:17 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 1 11

I'm torn lately... I picked up my dress from the salon and now I'm wondering if I should find a petticoat/full slip to add a little poof to the bottom. It's kind of a sheath dress and it still needs alterations, but in this photo you can see it falls in on itself sometimes. Has anyone with this shape dress added something underneath? Thanks!!

It's a beautiful dress! Have you tried a petticoat under it?

Unfortunately I haven't tried one before... I was mostly wondering if anyone has with/without pictures of their dress so I could compare before buying something. Maybe I could go to David's and try one on, not sure if they'll argue because I didn't get my dress there

This is my dress from DB and I'm wearing a petticoat under it. It doesn't add too much but keeps it from being flat and lifeless you know

I had crinoline under my dress that I had removed because of how uncomfortable it was. I was surprised how much lighter my dress was after, easier I could move, and more comfortable I was. Lol. I'm not a fan, but I would definitely try it! Smiley smile

Just call and ask if you can schedule an appointment for dress foundations and make sure it's ok since you got the dress somewhere else.

I bought just a plain slip to wear under and that helps the dress from sticking to my legs. I think it helped a lot. A slip doesn't make it poofy but keeps it from clinging too tight to my legs.

Mine before (first) and after (second). I bought this petticoat from amazon.

It also helps me walk because the petticoat has a wire hoop at the bottom which keeps everything away from my feet!

Thanks everyone! The pictures are especially helpful! I did like that my dress was a lot lighter than some of the others I tried on, and the lack of layers is probably why. I would probably just buy something cheap and maybe take it off at the reception when I bustle the train.

I will warn that if you get the one that I posted, it's "one size" and it fits me like a glove (which I like actually because it's almost the effect of spanx but way comfier). I wear a street size 6/8.
