Sheath Dress; thinking of adding tulle overlay skirt

Caitlyn, on October 25, 2020 at 12:54 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 11
I bought my dress couple months ago. Definitely didn’t think I’d buy on my first dress shopping run and it kind of took me by surprise that I bought myself this one. I loved it on but definitely wasn’t “the type” I was seeing myself in and now idk having second thoughts. I was thinking about adding a tulle skirt overlay to make it more like an A-line for the ceremony. What do you guys think? I think it may look weird based on where the lace trickles/lies but also think it may be able to work... idk. Sheath Dress; thinking of adding tulle overlay skirt 1

That dress is gorgeous!! I think it's beautiful how it is, however, if you're uncomfortable with it, you could always go try on the dress with an overlay to see how it looks and feels! Does the shop you bought your dress from have skirt overlays in stock? If so, you can always schedule an appointment, bring your dress, and try on a few options.

Your dress is gorgeous & it accentuates your body extremely well! I agree with Lisa. Call some boutiques to see if they have what you’re looking for. That way you would know once & for all if it works- you don’t want those “what if’s” dancing in your head!

I think your dress is beautiful.
The tulle overlay could also be beautiful and an easy way to switch up your look from ceremony to reception.
A concern I would have is the dress has a train and the skirt you showed as an example does not. If you choose an overlay I would make sure it too has a train. As a PP suggested you can ask your bridal shop if they have one you could try on with your dress to help you decide.

You can find a detachable tulle with train, bit I think it is pretty as is. Maybe add a veil cape? Some are simple, some are so extravagant. Check it out.

Based on the style of your dress, the tulle overlay would also need to have a train. I think it could be a cute idea for the ceremony and create a fun change when it’s removed for the reception.

I wouldn’t buy anything online. I think the dress is beautiful as it is, but if you really want to get something do it in person as colors look different under every light and picture.

I also think it's gorgeous as is, and wouldn't want to hide the elegant fabric and beautiful shape!!

But you should definitely try your dress on with a few overlays in person to see what you like!

Curious to know what you ended up doing! I am thinking of adding a tulle skirt to the dress I currently have as well... Did the colours end up matching and looking good?
