Shark Tank

That'll Be Mrs Small 2 U, on March 27, 2017 at 9:35 AM Posted in Planning 0 19

I was watching Shark Tank last night with my FH (we love that show), and I saw the company that makes the fake cakes that you can rent and slide a piece of cake in so you and fh can "cut the cake". What a ridiculous idea...lol. First off, i went to the website and the cakes are like $400 and up. Uhhh, I may as well purchase a real cake. I just hate the idea of spending money and getting nothing for it. I feel like I'm getting bamboozled. Why rent a fake cake for 3 days (you have to return it the Monday after the wedding) when you can purchase a real cake for about the same price (maybe a little more) and your guests can all have delicious cake instead of the whole sheet cakes in the back thing?? What a dumb idea....to me.....to the sharks too....that's why she left without an investor. LOL i think the name of the company is fun cakes should someone care to look them up.

Hah, I remember that episode! It seemed like it *could* be a good idea at first -- if it was cheaper! But yeah... Still expensive for a fake cake? No shark investment, haha.

Agreed- what a ridiculous idea. I can't imagine there's a market at that price point. I'd rather have the cake! For that price, the fake cake should be rent-to-own lol

Definitely a neat idea, but $400?! No thanks! Maybe for $50. Lol

I've seen that idea before. For a split second, I considered this as I need a GF cake for myself ( I don't think any of my other guests need GF cake). However, the price is outrageous (IMHO).

I totally agree......what is the point in spending so much money and literally getting NOTHING. She even said on the show that the bride and groom can just stuff a twinkie in there and some icing...lol who the hell would want to do that? Then to ship back a 7 tier cake seems even more ridiculous to me...lol

Low key was hoping this thread was about a couple getting married in a shark tank.

If it was a lot cheaper maybe but $400? That's basically how much real cakes cost.

Just looked at their website and the grammar in the intro paragraph is AWFUL. I'm tempted to email them and offer to do their copy-editing.
