A little bit of DIY and keeping a keen eye out for sales and discounts. It also doesn't hurt to get a part time job to help with wedding expenses if you can manage the extra working time.

Definitely shop around for décor, try not to get an over-priced venue, and do Sam's Club flowers!!!

We are DIY'ing our centerpieces, silk flowers for the bouquets and boutonnieres, buying our own tablecloths (renting them is $20/tablecloth, buying them is about $15/tablecloth and we are selling them to caterer later), buying our own booze (caterer provided bartenders). We've saved quite a bit of money doing this.

I set a budget for everything even tho I may go a little over budget not by much. I am looking for sales for my invitations, my dress, etc. Any sales that I found or will find I will use their coupons/sale codes to get a discount on that product. As for the dj, I shopped around and compared prices and experiences. Do your research to find the best deals for your wedding

    1) We opened a mutual bank account for saving for the wedding. After our wedding, it will be our savings for vacations, house upgrades, etc.
    2) We both direct deposited small quantities from our paychecks over the 16 months or so of our engagement into that account. Saving $300 collectively a month that way, roughly, was almost $5000! That was HUGE.

    3) We have side gigs, so we put all of our earnings from our side gigs in our wedding fund. Ironically, our side gig was performing music for other weddings!
    4) We have negotiated with our vendors at almost every turn. We are booking our photographer for less time than is typical (3 hours only) as they are very expensive where we're being married. 5) I whittled down the flowers to very minimal (and even then I could have cut more but we were under budget, so I stuck with it). I'm using artificial flowers for our bouquets.
    6) We have no bridal party except for two junior bridesmaids.
    7) I ordered my dress early in the process and it was a little bit of a splurge but I paid it over time.
    8) We DIYed our invitations (cardsandpockets.com), we are also DIYing a lot of other things like destination wedding welcome bags.

    Hope this helps!
