Shapewear for low-back dress

Kayleen, on October 12, 2022 at 4:13 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 1 16
Hi ladies! I’m having a dilemma finding shapewear for m wedding dress. The back is very low and the sides are mesh so a traditional bodysuit or high waisted short wouldn’t work. I just want a little something to feel super snatched. Thoughts? 😊

I dont really think there's any shapewear you can get away with. However, when you go for fittings you can ask the seamstress to add structure to the front and let the dress do the work. It looks like the sample you tried on is slightly large on you which might be why you think you need shapewear. Once your dress fits like a glove I bet you won't feel like it's needed.

Here’s another pic! It does still need altered but I have a lil pudge and I’m afraid it’ll show once it’s super fitted lol

First of all you look BEAUTIFUL, without the shape wear. Second, I understand, my dress also had lace cutouts and it caused me a lot of stress leading up to my wedding which was 2 weeks ago. I tried the skims low back shapewear but it doesn’t shape as much as it does just have some side boning. I ended up using the spanx undetectable thong which sucked in my tummy a little- had to color match with a few different colors, and I used some “boob tape” to smooth my belly button. All in all, no one is going to notice because you’re gorgeous and naturally people have stomachs! I don’t have all my pictures back yet but my bouquet also covers most of front of the dress in formal pictures anyway.

    You don't need shapewear... lol

That "pudge" is the natural contour of a very flat belly. Once it's fitted, the dress will smooth out

The thong is such a good idea! Thank you! I did want to try the skims low back short but it's been out of stock forever so there's that lol.

I don’t think you will need shapewear after the dress is fitted properly but there’s a brand called “commando” and they make all sorts of shapes for underwear meant for these kinds of dresses. I used it with mine and no one could tell they I had anything on

Hey, wondering what you ended up going with if any undergarment? My wedding dress has the same openings on the sides

I think the dress in the OP looks lovely. It has a nice transition from the sheer material to the rest of the dress. Many gowns today just go straight across the waist in that transition, which seems a bit harsh. Either way would still make for a nice dress to wear, but the first way seems a step up. It is nice to see this old post activated again.
