shadow box for sand ceremony

Jamie, on July 18, 2012 at 2:13 PM Posted in Planning 0 15

My FI really likes the idea of a sand ceremony, but it reminds me of my childhood.. I was pretty set on using a unity candle cremony until I came across a photo on pinterest of ceremony sand in a shadow box. Im having trouble finding one. Is anyone planning on doing a sand ceremony like this? (photo below)

I'm not sure if there is something special to hold the sand, but shadow boxes are pretty common. Do you have a Hobby Lobby or MIchael's near you?

There is a company online that sells a sand ceremony frame. Please note that I have never seen this in person or purchased anything from this company so I cannot vouch for the quality although it looks good in the pictures.

I was looking to do the same exact thing. I found a couple online through google. I was wondering though would it be weird to do it in a church?

I found this one on Etsy:

I know we're doing a sand ceremony, but I don't know what our containers will be yet. And we're using real sand, not dyed stuff, so some things won't work as well for us 'cause we'll just have the one beige color.

    @ any occasion photography,

simply amazing! I love that its mocha frame too. We put mocha colored pic frames on our registry, so it would match wonderfully..

I did look at michaels. I went there today actually. I saw some frames there but I didnt see what I wanted really.. Ill look at Hobby lobbySmiley smile

There are also companies that sell hourglasses for your sand ceremony.

I got my shadow box from Michaels, I have a vase that we will pour the sand in and then place it in the box later.

You can look online and hobby lobby and maybe Walmart has the actual sand ceremony box. Unfortunately it doesn't come with the vases or sand. There's a site called orientaltrading.com that I found the one I like. Hope this helps!
