SF Bay Area SOUTH BAY Spots for Pre-Engaged Photography

I am trying to find some good spots for photography, specifically, pre-wedding pictures for myself and my fiance, specifically around the South Bay area. The pictures can be semi-formal and also one where a gown and suit are worn.

Are there "less cliched" spots for portrait pics around the South Bay Area? By that I mean places with no bridges such as SF. It does not need to be a tourist spot or an "unforgettable" spot by common opinion. I love SF but I'm not for it being the pre-engaged place, we hardly go there. It can even be as simple as a place with that has the 'right' texture/color.

Would you go all the way to Santa Cruz, or is that too far? I'm sure there are beautiful locations there, especially this time of year. I'm in the East Bay, and I'm always reluctant to trek out to SF, but there are some really gorgeous places you could go that wouldn't be typical bridge or Coit tower shots. My friend's engagement shots around SF a few years ago were gorgeous, I'll post a link to the photog's blog so you can see. Some of them are very SF, but a bunch of them aren't.

What kind of pictures are you going for? I am from Sunnyvale but did my engagement pics in LA at the art district and Walt Disney Hall. If i did it in the bay area, I would probably look at areas of San Jose and Palo Alto because I like city scenery with busy backgrounds.

What about Stanford University in Palo Alto? I have photographed many engagement and pre-wedding sessions there. It is a great mix of natural and architectural details and vast so one can find the right mix for their taste.

If you are more open space person, Arastradero Open Reserve in Palo Alto Hill is a great option too. Rolling hills, tall grass, large trees. Very beautiful location.
