Sewn in cups and a bra? Is that too much?

Trina, on July 24, 2019 at 9:34 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 12

So I’m having cups sewn into my dress. I need shapewear for my tummy, and I’m looking for a low-cut back bodysuit, as the dress is very low-cut in the back.

All I’ve found are shapewear with a built-in bra. I’m wondering if it would look weird if I wore something like that, on top of the sewn-in cups?

Photos attached for reference of my dress and the type of shapewear I’m considering.

I think it depends on how big the cups are. It might be too much. I would order the shapewear and try that first and then have cups out in if needed. That dress is stunning!!! Good luck.

Thanks, Cyndy! I've been eyeing this dress for 1.5 years, since day 1 of planning. My wedding is exactly 30 days away and I'm so excited to wear it! Also, I'm a 32C, the sewn-in cups don't look very big. Just enough to "fill in" the area. The seamstress said it will look fine once done, but I'm wondering if I really need this bodysuit, or if I can get away with another type of shapewear for my tummy. Need to smooth out those problem areas!

Love the dress! I think the cups plus bra wouldn’t be a problem but that kind of bodysuit doesn’t seem like it really helps with tummy shapewear.😕

Thank you! I bought the “Spanx Undie-Tectable Lace Thong”, and it just isn’t doing it for me. Keeps rolling down, and doesn’t even do that good of a job covering that FUPA, lol. I know if I went any bigger in size, it would be too big since the size I have now isn’t smoothing me out as much as I would like. If I went smaller, I’d barely fit into it, so idk what to do Smiley sad

Just curious where that shape wear is from? I’ve been looking for something like that!

Have you tried Amazon? I was looking for shapewear the other day, I too only need some tummy control. They have tons of options, I'm thinking about getting a Maidenform one, it comes in a brief style, and boy short style and has really good reviews. Plus it was only around 20 bucks so if it doesnt work, at least I'm only out a little bit.

Love that dress too! Its gorgeous!!!

I’m interested in these responses! My seamstress said she was going to see in cups, and it turns out that they are just those “boob pad” types (like the kind that pad sports bras and provide zero support). I’m a 34C, and don’t need a TON, but would like the girls to be more lifted than NOT wearing a bra...

That isn’t going to provide slimming or support. You can see how loose it is on the model and if it were to squeeze anything around your middle it would come out the hole in the front. Not flattering.

I'm in a similar situation and just accepting shapewear won't give me what I want. Most important thing is to make sure the dress fits right so it doesn't pull in unflattering ways.

As for sewn in cups, they aren't what provides lift, it's the structure of the dress. If the dress has no structure, it's probably not a good fit for boobs that don't defy gravity. 😭

Seen in cups can give lift, if the dress fits nicely in the waist, and they use push up cups.

Amazon! They have tons. I forgot the exact name of it but maybe search something like “low cut back bodysuit” and it should come up!

You can get high rise shapewear panties with tummy and booty control. I would skip the bra if you have cups.

I had ordered this exact same one a while ago and it gave me absolutely no tummy control or support. I returned and went with one of the high rise panties .
