Sew in/appliqué direction?!

Megan, on July 20, 2019 at 5:39 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 6

Hi ladies! My dress has a small light stain on the front (hard to see but it still bothers me) and my seamstress recommended that if I’m not able to get it out,I have the option of covering it up with a sew in. I love my dress plain, but also kind of like the look of adding an embellishment. I don’t want the one in the example photos as I’d prefer not to have flowers on it. I’d prefer just rhinestones and/or a pearl combination. Should I consider doing it straight across my waist or diagonal on the hip to flow with the fabric? Or no appliqué at all? Thoughts appreciated!

I have the same flower applique, but my dress has other flowers on it to match.
I think pearls or rhinestones would look nicer too, I think with the flow of the fabric will look better and natural to the eye. You might want to more pearls because there isn't rhinestones elsewhere on the dress and too much bling might be a little out of place. Try a few on and see.

I love your dress, it looks gorgeous on you! I don’t know how bad the stain is, but if i had to pick a belt I would definitely go with the flow of the dress, it looks more natural

I think the applique looks nice actually especially when with the hip flow

Wow. I like the belt! Try straight across but that already shows your waist beautifully I’d go for the diagonal. So cool.

As PPs said, matching the dress' direction makes it look really natural! And your dress is beautiful Smiley smile
