Sew in cups for dress? Help with small bust

GPR, on March 7, 2016 at 12:37 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 19

My dress will be coming in this month (so excited!) and I am trying to figure out where to get sew in cups for the dress. It has a low back and I want to have cups sewn in. I am an a cup and I usually wear Victoria's secret padded bras to enhance what I have. Which cups would give me good padding, like increasing the bust size 1-2 sizes? Thanks for your help!

I think it always looks best to look more natural. I wouldn't go more than a full cup size. However, your seamstress should be able to give you a better idea of how they will look.

Are you not getting your dress altered? I am flat as a pancake but leaving this to my seamstress's discretion - since she's the professional!

I had my dress altered and the seamstress had padded cups that were similar to the very sexy cups that I wear from VS. I wear a c cup but I have had children so I need some help to create a beautiful cleavage. They worked great!

I am having cups sewn in as well, but the seamstress will be handling this for me.

I am going to a seamstress but I'm not sure if they will have the level of padding I desire. To be honest adding 2 cup sizes does not look unnatural because I am very pear shaped, I was blessed with a large bottom but not much upstairs. I wanted to bring something to the seamstress to sew in.

OP - is your dress strapless? If so, the addition of 1-2 cup sizes may look a bit unnatural. Generally, larger busted women will have a bit a cleavage above the top of their dress. To go from flat to not may not look right in a strapless dress.

To answer your question, my seamstress added mine in.

I appreciate the opinions but I do know what looks best on me, I wear padded bras all the time, to balance out my shape. I would just like suggestions for cups I can buy if anyone has any.

Check at any fabric store. Joanne's, hobby lobby, micheals, etc. They usually have a section for those that make clothes, and should have what you are looking for.

Do you know where you are having your dress altered? My seamstress was able to provide the cups, I did not have to buy them on my own.

Why bother? Everyone including FH knows you have no boobs. I guess if it gives you confidence. But I seriously don't understand brides who want to look like another person at their wedding.

If you're hellbent on the two cup increase, bring your VS bra into your alterations appointment and see if they can cut out the cups and sew them into your dress.

There is a reason the cups are made the way they are for wedding gowns.

ETA: Kathryn - right?! I know OP doesn't want to acknowledge my feedback, but as a small chested person who also dons the bombshell bra I can state with full assurance that it looks completely fake and strange under strapless garments. And I am larger chested than OP. To each his own I guess...

WOW @Kathryn Absolutely unnecessary for you to make a comment like that. I am asking for product recommendations from fellow brides, I do not need others' opinion on my "no boobs."

Maybe meet with your seamstress first to see what she suggests to achieve what you want, and then if you still need to buy something from elsewhere, do it at that point.

I have four fitting appointments, and have only had my first one last month. She tried a couple of different padding options, and let me know that I didn't have to decide right then and there and could think about it and just let her know next time.

But for me seriously everyone knows I'm flat - I'd just like to look slightly more proportionate!

Umm What I said shouldn't of been offensive. If talking about your boobs makes you uncomfortable, then maybe don't post about it on a internet forum.

My point is FH loves you regardless and will think you are gorgous, there is no need. That is all.

Um YES! do it. I am not lying when I say it was one of my best wedding decisions. my dress also had a low back and I really didn't want to wear any kind of bra or sticky cups. I'm a b cup and had push up cups sewn in and they were sooo comfortable and I didn't have wear anything else. Totally worth the alteration cost.

Eta, just read the other comments. Guys, if she wants busty cups she can get busty cups. It's not a big deal. I don't think people are going to be bowled over by her chest on her wedding day. My seamstress provided the cups.

@Mrs. T-to-be Thank you for your non-judgmental, non-catty advice. The key for me is to look more proportional. I will see what the seamstress suggests, hopefully they will have enough padding options for me to feel comfortable.

I am doing this .. My dress also has a low back and a deep sweetheart neck .. It's gotta be easier than finding a bra that works and I'm also small on top so I need the padding
