Setup start time

Jessica, on August 2, 2019 at 8:45 AM Posted in Planning 0 7
I have a questionnaire to fill our for our florist. They are asking what time they should start setting up and what time they need to be finished by. Obviously they need to be done before the guests start arriving but I have no clue what time they should start??? Our ceremony starts at 5:30 pm so should I have them start setting up at like 10am?? And done by 4:30? Anyone else have to do this?! Thanks in advance for the help! 😊

Is your florist going to take 6.5 hours to setup? I would check with your photographer. They may want to take shots of your bouquets or the venue setup so they will need time to do so before guests arrive.

I would give your self a 2 hour time frame for setup. Are the ceremony and reception going to be at the same venue? If not, that time will need to be accounted for as well.

I agree with PP , I think two hour time frame for set up sounds right.

Is it possible they are asking what time your venue allows you to start set up? The florist should be able to determine how long it will take them. Maybe they are just looking to find out what is the earliest time they are allowed in the venue.

For reference, our florist started setting up at 2PM for our 4PM ceremony and 6PM reception. They dropped off the bouquets and boutonnieres before first look, and stayed through cocktail hour to repurpose some ceremony decor (including the arch) to our reception area.

My future MIL is a florist. They probably want to know what time the venue will start allowing people in there. The amount of time they will need will be dependent on how much set up they have to do. They can tell you the amount of time they will need; they just need to know the window of time they can be there and when they should be done.

I would talk to your florist about how much time they need and then work backwards. Or to make it easier say they can come right when you get the venue and be done however long it takes as long as its before say 4pm or something but I would see how much time they actually need.
