I'm calling around for cake quotes and to be cost efficient, I'd like a small two tiered cake and to serve the guests sheet cake because it's cheaper. Most places tell me that if I do sheet cake, the flavor is basically standard like vanilla, chocolate, or strawberry. I feel guilty if I'm eating a special flavor while everyone else eats something basic. But I don't want to spend $200 more (total almost $500) for a four tiered cake.

Thoughts?

Agree with this. Guests notice all the time when the couple has upgraded/different food and beverages though they will never say a word to the couple. It leaves a bad taste.

I don't eat a lot of cake. the most I will probably eat is what my FH and I feed each other after we cut the cake. The rest is for the guest. So I will be having a 3 or 4 tier cake. Thank goodness a couple family members have the hook up on cake ladies that do elegant jobs on their cakes. So mine won't be coming from a story but will be made by a close family friend and it will be made with love.
